Ah, the power of whipping Notre Dame in a bowl game to lead to lofty rankings the next year.

To be fair they had a great year. They tied for the PAC title. Getting over ranked the year after a good year happens all the time.

Big10 will be extremely fun to watch this year

Watching grass grow is more fun than watching Big 10 football

They had a great year. They were fantastic...maybe the fastest college football team I've ever seen.

Great receivers, running game, smothering defense. They played like an old Erickson Miami team. I don't think Notre Dame crossed the 50-yard line all game.

But they lost their two stud DE and I think that Notre Dame whipping clouded SI's judgment as to what was actually coming back. They had a hangover effect and weren't as talented the next year.

Went 11-2, beat Nebraska, OSU, Notre Dame, and VT. Thats a pretty good year, had a solid recruiting class and have a good quarterback. Finally got a good coach to take over the team. What else do you need?

Completely agree.

Eta....still irks me they lost at udub. I was at that game. My first in Husky stadium.

Id assume that their best DL starters, all B1G center, starting TE and best WR all lost could come in handy this season....

A 2 TD underdog to Alabama should never be promoted as having the potential to be "really good" especially when that same team is an underdog to freaking Notre Dame.

Ya they lost some talent but they had a lot of talent behind those players as well. I still think they can have a good year, but like I said it sucks for them to start off against Bama.

Not being nearly as good as Bama and being capable of going 10-2 in the Big Ten are not mutually exclusive. I like Michigan a lot this year, and also think Bama's gonna crush them.

you're right.... you play NO ONE this season I mean, LSU's OOC is pathetic but you have the easiest confrence schedule in the SEC

You say this as if it's our fault and we chose the schedule. Granted our ooc schedule isn't good but pretty much every other year in the past 11 or so we've played a BCS ooc opponent not including gt. I'm putting Boise in there as well.

I'd flip Bama and Lsu and flip USCe and Ar Kansas. Probably have Ou ahead of Oregon too. Mainly because Ou will have a pretty easy time getting to the Big 12 championship and a little harder trip for Oregon.

If you click on the LSU extended preview and look at the depth chart they have Lamar Dawson starting at MLB and Scott Starr as a backup. These guys dont exist
