eBay, StockX is really the only place to find them at market rate.

eBay, facebook marketplace and reddit
It'll be nice when CGC finally has their sports card division opened up. The 30 day TAR times will be great. It's amazing using them for trading cards
The wait times for PSA and BGS are stupid

The Panini One and One for basketball has been fire the last two weeks. It’s about 5-600 a box but you get two great cards. If you happen to pull a downtown or say a Zion RPA it could be worth 3-5k easily.

On stockx, I just looked at a 2019-20 Panini Prizm Blaster Box for $300. In the details of the item, it says:

these can be purchased at both Target and Walmart stores for a retail price of $19.99.
Are the cards sold in walmart/target the same cards that you all are talking about in this thread? If so, I assume they are purchased by bots for $19.99 before actually hitting shelves if you can flip it for $300+
Every time my wife wants to be a pain in the arse and drag me to Walmart/Target, should I be going look for panini sports cards for $20 (just in case) instead of miserably following her around?

Unless you show up on days when they stock, they will 100% be sold out

He's talking about hobby boxes. What they sell at walmart/target are retail boxes. Hobby boxes are significantly more expensive and have much higher/better pull rates

Hobby boxes contain the best parallels/inserts, autos, memorabilia cards.
Retail contains lower level parallels/inserts and much worse autos. But you can still pull some great things out of retail.
First off the line, contains the absolute best stuff.

Man, I'm excited for CGC sports card division to open up. They have some CLEAN slabs and the turnaround times are top notch. I just got some Pokemon cards back, so I think I might hold off on my next sports card submission until they're ready
Looks like they hired some top of the line guys to head it

Cannon, Excalibur in Shreveport is about the only place you will find “hobby” packs to rip. They are more expensive than online though, as to be expected. There is also the Shreveport Coin and Card Convention annually in the summer. Only went once but it was a blast. They are more expensive than online though, as to be expected. I would look into TTM (through the mail) requesting autos from players for your sons as well. It’s basically sending fan mail to the stadium with a nice letter asking to autograph the card you include
When I was big into collecting around 10-15 I would buy a retail box of the new rookies (SAGE, Contenders, etc.) from Walmart for $20 and send a ton of them out. You are more likely to get returned from rookies. I’ve got some cool ones though, DHop, David carr, Vinatieri, YA Tittle, chandler Jones, josh Hamilton to name a few of the coolest ones.
It can be a lot of fun if they get into it because you’re actually interacting with the player. A few times I even sent tiny mini helmets or jersey cards and got them autod. Sometimes I would even send little questionnaires asking things like “Who’s your favorite player” etc. Also gives an exciting feeling waiting for the mail every day! One of the cheapest and most fun ways to collect back when I was younger and I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of these.

I submitted something to PSA to get authenticated last January or February in a group bulk submission. Not long after, the virus shut down the country. Sometime this summer, I finally got my card back. And that was after the submitter sent it to someone else.

That's solid.
I'm trying to work on my Zion and JB9 collection, but between my Pokemon cards and other cards I want, it's hard to start
The label itself leaves a lot to be desired, but boy is the slab clear as glass.

Funniest thing in 2019's baseball releases, I bought a bunch of hobby boxes and never really got anything of major value. Then in a random big pack I bought from Walmart I got a Freddie Freeman 1/1 printing plate.
I scaled back on my purchases since then - I mainly just get into the retail stuff to collect the base cards and maybe some inserts, I'm not rich enough to chase autograph uni cards.

Eh, you don't need to be rich to get the nice cards you want. Instead of playing the lottery with the boxes, set that money aside to save up. Obviously opening cardboard crack is a blast, but sometimes takes a little bit of rehabbing yourself to get the nice cards
I opened 3 boxes of 2020 football Panini Prizm, and that's the only sports product I've opened in the past few years. Managed to pull a 1/1 Ceedee Lamb auto that I'll get back from Panini Redemptions in a few years
Besides that I rarely open sealed product, even for Pokemon. The only time I do it is if there's a promo I need or specific card only comes in the sealed product

I miss UD SPx and SP Authentic.
'99 SPx is still one of my favorite sets all time. RIP UpperDeck

They just did it different back then. Inserts were actually something thrilling to pull and the designs were fantastic. I think a lot of the basketball inserts these days are high quality. The problem is there is an oversaturation of products because they can sell everything to the gambling addicts that buy into breaks and expensive hobby boxes.

For real. Also doesn't help that specific companies have licenses for each sport, and then a company like Panini puts out 100 different sets for a single sport

I started a new PC of the 99 UD SP Signature Edition around the time Covid ramped up. Im up to about 90 of the set of 150 so far. The biggest names Ive been able to buy are A-Rod, Frank Thomas, Frank Robinson, Stan Musial, and Eddie Matthews. The set is decently affordable.
