For the record, I don't believe the OP was talking about guys who went to small schools but we're drafted in the 1st or 2nd rounds. I believe he meant guys who were undrafted free agents or guys that bounced around a bit before getting good.

I meant guys that were hardly recruited out of high school, went to a small school and rose to a 1st round pick and the example I gave in the OP was Leodis Mckelvin.

Cam wake. Joique is a good one, I always thought he was a small school, late pick, really talented guy that the lions had developed. Blew my mind when I realized he had bounced around.

Doesn't even answer the OP so that does not end the thread.

He actually made headlines while in college as he broke some d2 or d3 records. Guys like colston or joique bell were complete unknowns.

Leodis McKelvin

He was a first round pick. Not sure that qualifies him as coming out of nowhere.

Leodis Mckelvin is a terrible example. By the criteria you're using, you could have said Demarcus Ware and Osi Umenyiora since they both went to Troy as well and have had better careers than Mckelvin.

Brandon Marshall is a good example. Rashad Johnson was a walk on running back at Alabama. Jamie Collins from USM. Antonio Gates from the basketball court.

How has nobody said Terrell Owens yet? Went to Tennessee-Chatanooga, got drafted in the 3rd round, and now a potential HOFer.
