Fing idiotic comment. Just reveals how ignorant you are about a country but so willing to display the ignorance as a badge of honor.

Goalie was immediately red carded & he was leaving the field until he realized the player was seriously injured and returned to check on him. It didn’t seem like there was a big reaction that it was malicious

We must not have been watching the same play. “Studs up” is a completely dishonest characterization of the play.

It looks like his boot with studs catches the thigh and knee catches the dude in the chest when the goalie comes flying in. It was totally reckless and having that happen at midfield by a goalie is very rare. Not sure what you're looking at

It wasn’t a malicious play in that the GK was trying to hurt the player. A lot of ignorance here. But he was trying to tackle hard. Similar to a flagrant in foul in basketball. You can have a hard flagrant but not be trying to intentionally hurt someone.

The GK was the last line of defense in a tie game. Ha gambled and the thought is “I’m going to get the ball, but if I don’t I’m going to at least get you so you don’t score.”

It was reckless as hell. He knew he was taking a red card. And they should have been given a PK but it's not like hockey where that can be given.

The cardiac arrest happened immediately after a collision with a goalie. He was transported to the hospital, treated in intensive care and his condition worsened overnight. He died the next day.

Further details in the Daily Mail story below.

When I read the title, I thought that if this were 3 or 4 years ago, "the jab" would have been one of the first couple of posts, maybe more than one.

Looks like a deliberate knee to the chest, fist to the face.
