Not sure what keeping them does to help. The Sky kicked out UND once they officially went to the Valley They were to go next year, but they went this year. Covid helped the transition though.

This hurts the Southland in basketball a lot, doesn't it?

I think it hurts more for football. The Southland has a few non-football members. This really shrinks the football profile of the conference, though.

Well the Southland just got royally fricked. This really hurts football if they are leaving in all sports.

I don’t get the reasoning for going to the WAC. Travel costs will be insane compared to Southland. But there’s 2 Texas schools already there in Tarleton State and UT-Rio Grande Valley, so that helps.

I guess they will be able to have a Texas division and really cut down on travel that way.

Leaves Southland with 7 memebers. Also appears Central Arkansas may go to Atlantic Sun, so they would be down to 6 football members.

Southland should pursue ULM and Delta State.

Mississippi College would also be a good fit.

This hurts baseball and football. I don’t know who will fill the Sam Houston spot for football and baseball. Stephen f Austin is basketball loss. Maybe ark pine bluff, alcorn, Little Rock, don’t know Arkansas state would leave their conference, but moving further East to Samford may be a fit. Just an idea.

Glad this story was shared.

When did Lamar restart their football program? I’m out of the loop.
