Yeah this one is all over Twitter, but it's freakin weird because he just won the conference championship in 22 and got an extension a few months ago.

So something must've happened off the field.

Because while they weren't that great this season, what SLU has done during his tenure there is about the max any coach will be able to do there.

How is it logical to fire one guy and hire someone worse?

1) Riser > Dean

2) Blake loves living in NOLA too much for off the field reasons to move to Hammond.

How do you know he’s worse if he’s at a shitty program? He might do better with more resources

Just FYI... Jay Artigues... the former SLU head baseball coach who Riser coached under for a while before getting the head job... is the SLU AD

There has been rumored bad blood between them two the past year. I was told a few weeks ago from a close family member that he would be more than likely gone after the season. He will be coaching somewhere again next year.

Can top that. Riser played at Pearl River for Jay before he went to Tulane to play and before Jay went go Southeastern to coach.

We were 30-31 last year and won the conference tournament, long way away from winning conference. Followed it up going 25-25 this year, and outside of starting 7-0 and ending 6-0 we were 12-25. We have been on a steady downtrend since 2019. Hitting is abysmal. We haven't had a true ace pitcher in probably 4 to 5 years. In general the program has been completely stagnant.

Artigues either shouldn't have given him an extension last year, or given him 1 more year to right the ship.

Riser has a philosophy and he sticks to it, but that philosophy works when you have players who can consistently hit the ball and quality pitching.

I mean it's baseball it always comes down to having players that can hit and pitch. You can't scheme around talent deficiency's like you can in football.
