The former Indiana coach, who was fired in 2000 after 29 years and three national championships, has not stepped foot in the building where he became a coaching legend in those two decades since.
quote:
Former Boilermakers coach Gene Keady will be at the game against the Hoosiers as well. The 1980 Indiana team that won the Big Ten championship with Mike Woodson and Isiah Thomas and was coached by Knight is being honored at halftime, and several players from other great Knight teams are in town for the event.

He must be on death's door because he said this only a couple of years ago.
quote:
Patrick: Why do we want you to go back to Assembly Hall so bad? I know that might not be on your wishlist or front burner here, but why do we the fans want closure with this, coach?
Knight: Well, I think I've always really enjoyed the fans, and I always will. On my dying day, I'll think about how great the fans at Indiana were. And as far as the hierarchy at Indiana University at that time, I have absolutely no respect whatsoever for those people. And with that in mind, I have no interest in ever going back to that university.
Patrick: Aren't all those people out of there, coach?
Knight: I hope they're all dead.
Patrick: I know some of them are.
Knight: Well, I hope the rest of them go.

Bob Knight is being reported to have Alzheimer’s and is pretty bad in late stages. He probably wouldn’t know where he is.

Damn, heard his health hasn't been great. He is on the backside of 70 though.

quote:No way that’s true. I’ve seen an interview from just 2 years ago and I saw no signs of dementia whatsoever. He was his normal self, sharp as he ever was.

Edit: Don’t know why people are downvoting.. 2 years is not late-stage Alzheimer’s. My grandma had it and lived 7 years after she was diagnosed. And she had been showing signs for probably a year before she was diagnosed.
Knight wouldn’t go from showing no symptoms 2 years ago to being in the late stages today. The timeline just doesn’t add up.

Bobby Knight Golf Outtakes
One of the greatest things about Knight is that he had absolutely no qualms with doing something like doing a freaking golf instruction show.
I guess it helped that it was an age when coaching salaries weren’t out of the stratosphere, so these guys needed side hustles here and there to make really good money, but Robert Montgomery Knight just gave so zero fricks and would do all sorts of shite. And thanks to that gave us GOLD like this.
Dude was a treasure.

Can tell you have no clue about him by your statement Myles Brand should rot in Hell for what he did. Coach told you what he thought did what he said he would do. His players absolutely loved him. I’m glad I got to meet him those times.
Between Him and Keady I would say Keady was the bigger arse.
