I don’t get it. They needed to fix it within seconds mid race.

I know man. I thought it was just funny that no matter how advanced a sport is in terms of technology, sometimes you just need a good ol' duct tape to fix stuff.

Speed tape.

Ferrari's tape is red, cost 5x as much, and can only be torn in lengths ok'd by the factory.

Nascar woulda only needed 2 guys with one wide strip of tape while 3 others changed tires and 1 other filled gas tank.

You also have to buy their base level tape for years before you can buy their Mid Level Tape, and then only after you've bought all their tape lines, can you get the top of the line "Limited Run" Tapes...

Well that’s a relative statement. Which Motorsport would you suggest is more technologically advanced?

Pinewood Derby, they have essentially maxed out the performance completely.

It wasn't competition spec obviously, but we had a dad on our team make a derby car as long as the track so it had to go like a couple centimeters and weighted it just right to maximize the speed. Hilarious.

Why would that help? They all start at the same point.

F1 teams have entire rear wing sub assemblies that are rechangeable in a matter of seconds. Budget must been tight that race.

A lot more than the duct tape move. It is probably 2 minutes or more. If that quick.

Also the front. All of the body in front of the driver can be changed in seconds. It is one piece that two guy lift. No question F1 I the pinnacle, but from a pure tech perspective, especially the future, formula E & the endurance series supercar & LMP2 cars lead the way.

Question for the racing fans as someone just starting to pay attention… which Motorsport is thought to have the most elite racers? I know F1 is most popular, at the same time, it seems like there are only about 6 cars that can win a non-chaotic race, so not exactly an even field.

No one* is voluntarily leaving F1 to race in another series.

There may be better drivers that don't make it to F1 though.
