I actually think Cincinnati might be the next team to move. They don't have a great situation with their stadium and I think the Bills are pretty steadfast in staying in western NY.

The Jags are the wildcard. Khan grew up in central Illinois and he had the Rams bought until Kroenke swept in and matched the bid.

If the Jags keep struggling and people don't show up (like what happened to the Rams), I wouldn't be surprised to see him look into moving them to St. Louis.

I don't think we'll see another team move though in the next 10 years.

The problem with Mexico City is that Mexico is a shithole. They are going to have a real problem attracting players to play there. Especially in a salary cap league where they can't over pay.

Actually another problem is that it might be difficult to get players to agree to play at 8,000 feet above sea level, too. Mexico City is actually nicer than most here will give it credit, though. It is nothing like the northern states.

Mexico City is a crime ridden shithole.

quote:

Houston Texans players are being advised by the team not to leave the hotel and not to order room service during their trip to Mexico City for Monday night’s game against the Oakland Raiders.

quote:

A section of the memo under the heading "safety" had a bullet point with: "DO NOT leave the hotel." It was followed by a line advising players to leave all "expensive jewelry at home," not to bring large sums of money and not to use ATMs.

quote:

A second section titled "health and performance" has basic tips like drinking only bottled water and avoiding the consumption of ice. It also warned: "Eat all meals in the meal room. DO NOT order room service" and "DO NOT eat outside of the team meal room."

A franchise there would never attract any good free agents. Drafted or players traded there would look to get out ASAP.

London would be one thing but I can't see a league largely made up of flashy young and rich black guys agreeing to take up residence in Mexico City for some part of the year.

This is my feeling as well. All the teams that moved were facing attendance/stadium funding issues. The Jags were filling the seats fine during the Mark Brunnell, Coughlin, Del Rio years. They've just sucked really bad and everyone leaves at half time.

They are in the same situation as the Rams were in. Great teams for about 7-8 years then suck for like 8-10.

The owners/NFL will always blame the fans and city for not supporting a team. Never the team, management and owner.

Just the way it is. If they keep sucking and people aren't coming to the games, it'll be tough to keep them there.

I think Kahn is going to do everything he can to make the Jags work in Jacksonville. It sucks for St Louis that Kroenke pulled the rug out on him at the last minute when he wanted the Rams.

Kroenke's plan all along was to move the team to LA. The NFL was very complicit in it. The Rams had great support for a long time, even into the losing years. Eventually it withered away in the last couple years and that gets blamed on the city and not the ownership? horseshite.

I'm not a Rams fan by any stretch, but the city of St Louis got fricked in the deal and portrayed as the bad guy in the process.

Oh I agree, Kroenke was never going to keep the team in STL. He was always going to LA from the minute he bought the team.

Khan is a good guy, unlike Kroenke, and will try to make it work. However if the Jags keep losing and attendance is down, he will start to get pressured by the league/other owners to see what's out there. I don't know if he'd leave but they would make him look around.

Thanks for being one of the few not being blinded by the NFL's lies. The STL put forth an outstanding stadium proposal to keep the Rams, but the backstabbing sleazeball owner bullied his way back to LA. Now I hope they lose every game. When the team was competitive the Rams drew capacity crowds. Bad front office personnel and all the losing drove the team into the ground for years. Any team other than Raiders would suffer attendance after that ineptitude. Chargers and Raiders leaving turns me off from the NFL even more. The league can try other gimmicks to renew TV ratings, but all the greed has severely drained much of my interest in the game. NFL is no longer must see TV for me. That being said, I don't see London or Mexico City ever being viable options. I would rather the STL have no team that get screwed over by another owner.

London would drastically increase interest from all over Europe. That is a shite ton of money to be made from that move.

Good luck ever getting any new players to sign for them. I would imagine most players would rather take less for another team, and not deal with all the travel.

Well you just forced 1/16 of the league to move to L.A.

If this were to ever happen that team would crush it. Between all the money in Texas and all the sports crazed mexicans in SA that stadium would always be filled.

If I owned any of those teams I'd be looking to get a deal done in San Diego.

The NFL will never have a team in St. Louis again. They have had two franchises move out

It isn't an NFL town. The Cardinals and Blues are both bigger draws.

They have moved on to getting an MLS franchise.

Because the Blues and Cardinals actually care about putting a good product on the field of play. Both teams consistently make the playoffs. The few years the Rams were good the fans were there. The "city is not a football town" is a lazy and ignorant argument.

I could see Mexico before Europe IMO.

They have huge fan support down there actually and it would further extend the latina market.

The U.K. market is bigger

Tickets for the NFL games sell out in hours and go on the secondary market for four times and even more face value.

It would never happen. A NFL team in that part of the state would hurt both A&M and Texas and so they would work together to stop it. You can't get around their political power in the state when they decide to work together.
