So Jordan’s gambling did get his dad whacked, correct?

It it did or it didn’t, he’s still better at basketball than Bron.

And I’d rather let my son hang with the GOAT, than the guy that has lost in the Finals 10-20 times.

Something would’ve leaked out and exposed it, as good as the mob claims to be, a lot of their crimes get exposed and leaked, that something like this endured for so long without even anything remotely resembling concrete evidence that could suggest something bad getting revealed, it’s more than likely horseshite this isn’t Jimmy Hoffa, he wasn’t in much if at all with the mob to implicate stuff like that

I haven’t looked it up or watched the doc, but IIRC at the time

Jordan’s dad was driving a Lexus and was carjacked and killed

The South Carolina police almost blew the investigation because apparently if you see a black guy floating in a river in South Carolina you just do paperwork.

I may be misremembering though.

The mob or some powerful gambler didn’t outsource the job to a couple of poor teenagers from the South.

Dude, Jordan had enough money to cover any bet or bets.

Michael Fran. Didn't say it happened because of the gambling, for sure . He implied it, iirc

What we know for sure is Jordan sat out of basketball in open violation of multiple contracts with organizations and vendors that were some how totally ok with it. He left to become a complete spectacle at minor league baseball games less equiped to shield him from record crowds of people that showed up at every town to see him. He was not more safe at those events and was still worshipped in an unequalled manner any where he went.

The people that committed the crimes against his dad were just two country junkies. The crime against his dad and his subsequent issues with it are very sad. However, suggesting this was the reason he left basketball doesnt make sense. If Jack Haleys dad dies, they probably expect him back at practice in a couple days. You may get a couple days of bereavment at your job. Then you go back.

FWIW, Terry Francona said he made a side bet with Jordan for the second half at one of his games. This was during their second three-peat run. I didn't really give much credence to the "Jordan was suspended for gambling" rumor until I heard that. Francona managed Jordan in the minor leagues and was fairly close to him. He wouldn't have any reason to make up Jordan betting on his own games as a player.

The closest I think Jordan ever came to betting on his own games was stuff like "bet I'll go for 30 in the second half." Or "Bet the guy I'm defending in the first half won't score more than 3 points."

Ex-NHLer Jeremy Roenick tells an epic gambling story between him and Jordan.

He and Jordan played 36 holes in Chicago one day before the Bulls played the Cavs. Jordan had several beers and Roenick says something to the effect of taking his golf winnings and betting on the Cavs that night. Jordan bets him double or nothing he'll score 40+ and the Bulls win by 20+. Roenick takes the bet, Jordan goes off for about 50 and the Bulls win by 25.

no genius but sometimes the hitman outsources to someone who then contracts to someone else. trust me, this was a hit job and not just a random carjacking. none of the real players wanted to be attached to a high profile killing.
