Of course, Curtis has never chose to play all the way up in football. You've got to respect Evangel in that matter, they played up in 5A, and didn't find the easy division to settle in.

Also, I've said it many times, if Curtis wants to play up, they need to in all sports, and maybe shift a little bit more emphasis on other sports if they feel they will be left behind. Even if they don't, their situation in other sports won't be unlike half of the division anyway. In any one year, you really have only about 8 or so schools that have a legit shot at winning the state championship. Maybe a good goal for John Curtis non-football sports should be just to make the playoffs.

Yeh the division 1 private final was a joke this year. Rummel vs Byrd. Lets see, Rummel got stroked by Acadiana this year and Byrd got stroked by Parkway.

Tennesse split when i was in HS. Yall are really going to hate this new system. I can promise you that. Not that yall dont already. Just saying it doesnt get better.

and four years after the split... how many times has UT football been relevant?

its been like 15 years. what makes you think its only been 4 years?

eta: tennessee football is not on the same level as louisiana football. not sure what that has to do with anything though. or the university of tennessee either for that matter.

takes 4 years for a monumental change like that to really affect the sport...

it affected the quality of football in the state and. has hurt UT.

teams do improve over the course of the season... so i do think rummel could have made the dome without the split

without the split, these would have been the playoff paths for the 5A teams in the Dome

Rummel- Jesuit, Destrehan, Acadiana, Parkway

Byrd- Brother Martin, New Iberia, East Ascension, St. Augustine

Acadiana- Comeaux, Holy Cross, Destrehan, Parkway

Parkway- John Ehret, Ouachita, Catholic (BR), Acadiana

thats sort of a silly assumption. its not like the split made individual players worse. it just made the playoffs stupid. can't say i agree with your line of thinking at all.

Not a chance in God's green earth that Rummel would beat Destrehan, Acadiana, and Parkway in a row. There are some years the private winner will be the best. But this year clearly goes to the publics

Do you think having 5 private school (aka cheaters) champions is good?

More Public schools cheat than privates.

it does affect the level that teams and their players have to strive for... let's say before in 2A you had to beat John Curtis. now you have to beat Many. that's a pretty big difference

Destrehan beat Dutchtown in the regular season and the playoffs, 45-14 and 26-7.

Rummel lost to Dutchtown in the regular season.

Yeh this is just a year where 5a is way stronger than Division 1. There will be years though where the private winner is better. Like last year when Rummel won

Im not defending one way or another. Just think it is dumb to say Team A beat Team B and Team B beat Team C, thus Team A automatically beats Team C
