So B1G teams are still practicing?

Apparently playing in actual games is the only way you can catch covid?
Its just mind boggling how irrational all this is.

if the rationale for cancelling the season is reducing exposure from travel, then it isn't "irrational" to basically create a bubble and still practice as they have all summer
I don't know...I don't really care about this to argue it too much, but this just seems like a stretch when there a plenty of other retarded things to make fun of

Well you can control your team and limit exposure. You can’t say the same about outside teams. That’s why you see the Big 12 and SEC go to these conference only schedules because each team will be held to the same standard of precautions.

Is that the rationale though?

Not really IMO. I'll use ND as an example as I heard their testing numbers this morning. For all football test, over 99% have come back negative. I think it was like 2 out of over 600. For the general student body returning to campus (I believe over 12000 tests), they had a similar negative rate. That shows me that the protocols in place are doing a good enough job to keep a handle on it. So if they're ok with the teams still playing the game at practice, what is so different about a game between teams that are all following these strict protocols that appear to be effectively stomping out the spread within their programs?

Big 10 scared af of choking in the CFP yet again.

They can’t control anything when the players mingle with regular students when school reopens.

Basketball starts practice in early October. Ice Hockey is big at several B1G schools. They probably start around the same time.
If they cancelled games and practice for Fall sports, then they’d have to cancel or postpone Winter Sports as well.
I assume one big reason for allowing teams to practice is to keep Winter sports on schedule for now.

"Come on guys, push it. Don't give up. Give it your all. The next game is only 13 months away!!!"

OU is sending its players home till regular enrollment for the student body starts & enrolls in classes, too.

I think canceling the season is dumb, but I don't understand how still practicing, as they have been practicing this summer, is "irrational"?
We're talking about a droplet-spread contagion.
Every school in the conference is supposedly having the same safeguards in place, same amount of screenings etc.
You're saying it's OK for approx 100 people (team, coaches, etc) to be on the practice field daily for hours, in rooms together, eating together etc.
But you're saying you can NOT take 2 basically identical groups (all safeguards in place for both), have 1 group travel in a private charter (minimal contact exposure), and play in an empty stadium (no fan risks). Knowing that in a game, you have less intermingling, less social interaction between teams, and everyone "on the other side" has been tested.
The biggest risk, to me, is the practice sessions. Gameday, everyone has been screened probably on Friday, and the teams don't hang out together before or after the game.
If you screen the gameday stadium personnel, drivers, and officials and clear them, you should be SAFER than an average day on or around a campus.
