His salary for this season is 7 million, so he is losing 2 million dollars from that? Prorated half season he would only be making 3.5

Unless Im reading this wrong, seems the owners are trying to alter the revenue split which would reduce his salary to 5 million, from there he would get the prorated portion of that amount.

Where is the “more” coming from? Is there a scenario where Snell makes “more” than his already agreeed upon salary?

Isn’t it the revenue split issue?

You don’t get the right to leverage to hoard as much money as possible until you become a billionaire.

It’s confusing I know.

I’m on both sides
The owners have every right to nickel and dime the players
The players have every right to do the same

"Bro, I'm risking my life," Snell said. "What do you mean it should not be a thing? It should 100% be a thing. If I'm gonna play, I should be getting the money I signed to be getting paid. I should not be getting half of what I'm getting paid because the season's cut in half, on top of a 33% cut of the half that's already there -- so I'm really getting, like, 25%.

"On top of that, it's getting taxed. So imagine how much I'm actually making to play, you know what I'm saying?"

I'm sure there will be others. The big question is whether or not everyone is willing to walk away from a payday this year - my guess is that it's unlikely.

I think the players absolutely would be willing to sit out the year. Trout has even come out and said that he doesn't want to quarantine for two weeks and risk missing the birth of his child.

I’ve seen quite a few interviews and pieces about him and he seems like a good guy. He just watches too much CNN is my guess.

Quite a few? I feel like if you’ve seen more than 1.5 “interviews & pieces” on Blake Snell you’re probably a little obsessed.

I can understand that as well, owners don't want to lose the money they are about to experience.... Sad baseball could take the limelight right now and gain fans, look at the KBO people are watching it.

The players and owners need to figure it out soon but quotes like the one Snell made do nothing in the court of public opinion. Risking his life? Talk about being dramatic.

Good for him. Pay them the pro-rated amount they agreed (granted maybe more of a handshake agreement) upon previously.

But...he'll be happy because he wont have to pay taxes on that.

Im still trying to figure out his math...he states ..50% cut ( due to 1/2 season ) in addition to 33% cut ..."that is like 25% "

alter the revenue split

There is no revenue split in baseball. If they start one, the players feel that is a pathway to an eventual split that in effect is a salary cap. A salary cap is a non-starter for the MLBPA.

I love baseball, but these guys are such prima donnas.

Someone inform Mr. Snell that people are working at grocery stores right now for minimum wage and 'risking their lives'.
