Tulane had a big year this year. ULL (and I say this as a USL graduate) has had a run on "successful" years, but they aren't playing the caliber teams that the BIG 12 should play. If either team would get in, it would just enforce the idea that the Big 12 is floundering.

This is the gripe I have with LSU fans about UL. Why are you punching down? What's the point exactly of calling it USL? They averaged 14,000 people at their home games this year. Because they don't like LSU? Which of the 14,000 people that don't like LSU are you most concerned with? Would it kill you to just call them UL or GOD FORBID Louisiana

Yes, I've spent a lot of time around Erath/Abbeville and the USL fans I know there can't stand LSU at an obnoxious level so it was always fun to troll them. On the surface level I honestly don't care about them mostly, I even root for them when they're playing schools outside of Louisiana, but when they happen to be brought up in conversation, yes they're USL.

Also you can easily turn the mirror in the other direction and ask why does the school have to change what they want to be called so damn often? ULL wasn't bad but after the insistence on wanting to be called UL or Louisiana, when there's another UL in the same damn conference, they're USL from now on just like they originally were. Plus it's just funny how triggered it makes them, like a trans person bitching about not using the right pronouns. Learn how to take some ribbing like all the other sports fans out there, like LSU being called the corndogs or USC being called the condoms. It's part of sports fandom.

Tulane needs to act now to use the Cotton Bowl to their advantage
That gets Big 12 into Sec territory and a new market

Why not go Pac-12? They're already better than USC.

and we wonder why we can’t have nice things in this state. When I want to get under an LSU A&M fans skin I just remind them that their first school President was William Tecumseh Sherman. The look on their face is always priceless as they try to rationalize this fact after hearing their whole life from grandaddy about how Sherman was the incarnation of the devil.

SDSU should be the #1 target for Big 12. Tap into Cali. SDSU just build a brand new football stadium in a large city with no NFL.

So you call us "USL" in a demeaning way and in the same breath wonder why some of our fans can't stand you. Hmmm.

Right, so that suddenly justifies one winning season in basketball in the last decade along with one season of more than 7 wins in football since 1998.

Nope it only goes one way to them. They would be LSU if they had more funding 50 years ago.

Your article says the money allegedly went to the PARENTS. Not the player. You said he paid the player.

WRONG

Regardless, ULL can pursue whatever they want. They will be rejected just like LSU rejected your student body.

It’s one of those things, if you build it, they will come. Nobody really wants to watch G5 football or play in G5 league, but if you can leverage your way into P5 and teams like TCU, Oklahoma state come to town on a Saturday night, that stadium will be packed. Recruiting wise, joining the BIG 12 will get you BIG 12 commits, look at Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC, they can’t consistently get those players without being in the SEC, so now they joined it. Like Arch Manning, his only option was an SEC school, now that Texas will be a SEC school in 2024, they are getting recruits like him. AAC works because they are so close to being P5 that the talent is there, and wanting to go there, look at Tulane beating USC, Cincinnati making the playoffs, if Louisiana Tech would have made it to the AAC, alone their recruiting class would have skyrocketed. Louisiana is such a hotbed for recruiting, I really think you could support 4 P5 schools and have LSU still win national championships, look at how many NFL players this state producers.

Is that an attempted gotcha? Who cares if it went to the parents? It was for the benefit of the player and he stole from a children's hospital to do it.
