You have QBs playing elite at 40

You have tennis players playing elite at 37

These are things that were impossible only 10-15 years ago as well. The biggest advancement in sports has been diet and body recovery

I don’t see basketball being any different. I think you will see guys stay pretty elite until upper 30s instead of mid 30s

No doubt.

But to date, he has been the GOAT at handling the load. No reason to think he won’t continue to do it.

Insert Lebron loves handling loads joke.

The reason is that decline is inevitable. If you are saying that he might age the best at this time in his career, he might. But you can't say there is no reason to think he won't continue to do it.

I mean...probably not. That's how life and the human body works.

I don’t know about that

Noticeable dip in numbers last year, first actual injury, no real intense defense being played at all

Last season does seem like a little bit of a reason

So your plan is to fire the GM that just made your big time trade? And you trust Jeanie to replace him? 3 years from now, if Pelinka is fires it’s because the Lakers weren’t competing...that’s an issue with an aging Lebron.

And it’s so much more than what I even listed. The DLo situation, throwing stupid money at Mosgov and Deng (and then panicking with his contract and waving him halfway through). You realize that these are moves that also cost them a max slot?

The Lakers lucked into so many high draft picks, were arguably luckier than any other tanking team and fettered so much away that they still needed to dump the future just to get AD.

I understand your confidence and optimism with Lebron and AD, you should be. I think Lebron is going to bring out the best in AD and he’ll reach an even higher level. But you can’t tell me you aren’t extremely worried that the FO issues don’t spill over onto the court. I just don’t know how Lakers fans can be so dismissive, Burt their head in the sand, and continue to just shout, “We’ll get someone, we always have!” “We’ll just replace that guy if it doesn’t work out!” “Everyone wants to play in LA!”

AD is way more physically gifted/talented than Duncan could ever dream of being, but will never be the player that Duncan was. He doesn't have it upstairs.

They really aren't remotely comparable players IMO.

Don’t disrespect Timmy like that. Timmy had the best intangibles of maybe any player ever. Davis is not that kinda guy.

there is a level of worry. i also think the likelihood is much more likely that a pairing of lebron and AD will be very successful regardless of the front office situation

and i have no fricking idea how people can act like the lakers wont be a major free agent destination with AD on the roster and max cap space. i also dont get how people can continue to expect the lakers will have a man in charge who will literally forgot to iron out the deal execution date of a trade. i dont have much faith that the lakers will ever have a true, high level front office because i have no faith in jeanie creating one. but i also think what the lakers have right now is literally the bottom of the barrel and that any change will be an improvement and i also think that given the stature of the franchise, and given the fact that we will have max cap space once lebrons current runs out, i dont think we really needs a competent front office when they already have a star to sell to free agents and have the space to make the move

i absolutely think this run will end up in less championships than it should. i just dont think that means the lakers will be a disaster and will start losing lottery picks to NOLA
