Shaq said it for motivational purposes. That’s why he even repeated it and expounded on it

He doesn't do that to everyone, just the guys he thinks can be special. I think someone did him that way coming up, it worked with him, he appreciated it, and wants to help the young guys like he was helped. Have seen him do it to a guy the he and Barkley have talked about a lot.

“I think you don’t have what it takes to be a great player.” To Donovan’s credit he handled it pretty well by just saying “Aight”

well... he's not wrong

Obviously he's popular here but he's a giant idiot honestly, I never understood why people pretend he has charisma

That's just how Shaq is, he's old school, I'm gonna challenge you by telling you where you are weak at.... Let's see what you do now.

I keep hearing this crap yet when Shaq played he was one of the most sensitive players who couldn't take any criticism at all.

The irony of this is breathtaking

Yea it sounded really awkward and I don’t really think Mitchell understood what was going on. He got super defensive real quick and just said “aight”

I would have also assumed many more than two career double doubles. That stat makes me view him much lower as an all-around player. Still probably top 30 though.

How come? You have to consider the offense that he plays in.

Snyder runs a motion offense built around dribble handoff.ie they are usually at the bottom of the league in assists.

Re rebounding: they have rud gobert cleaning up the defensive boards.

It’s a crutch. Love Shaq but he doesn’t have anything interesting to say and isn’t naturally funny in that setting like Chuck so he just craps on everybody. I think it flustered him that Donovan didn’t seem to care.
