And he's more like 4th, if we put Jrue at 3 last year (which is debatable)
However you want to chalk it up, the Celtics’ 5th best player was better than the Mavs’ 3rd best player by a pretty decent margin.

Anthony Edwards is 2 years younger than Luka. It’s not like he’s 19.
More like 2.5. And he's just coming into his physical prime while Luka developed earlier.
Edwards is going to have more of a normal body-career arc, accordingly.

The Magic make that trade in a heartbeat
I said "probably". That's the tier where it starts to open up, though. He's just the youngest guy on that tier.

Pretending Luka doesn't miss a lot of games is also a take, especially since he's out with a long-term injury.
Luka has hit 70 games twice in his career (rookie year and last year).
Historically is he as bad as AD? Not quite, but he's no iron man himself.

One of the biggest surprises in all this is that Markief Morris still plays in the NBA

How much longer is Luka out for?

Even in a world where you are zeroed in on Anthony Davis as the return, not understanding the gulf in value enough to get more stuff (the other first round pick, pick swaps, Knecht, Austin Reaves) is indefensible as well

Hoe many years are left on Luka's contract?
I saw where now he wont be eligible for supermax next year. He wont be happy about that. Plus moving to LA he will pay way more in taxes. (I guess he can keep his residence in TX).
Doncic seems like a guy who doesnt play his best if he isnt happy. (Just from what little ive seen of him, i dont see many mavs games outside the playoffs)

I'm not understanding this one at all for Dallas.

Not possible. He makes too much money.
And, as I said, we will see if this is the new precedent for the 2nd apron era.
It's a whole paradigm shift, both in terms of trades (see: Butler, Jimmy) and contracts (see: Ingram, Brandon and Randle, Julius).

Exactly, so are the Lakers gonna say no to getting Luka if you also ask for Kenect? Lol

Do the hawks win the Trae Young swap trade now?
Looking that way.

This is where I'm at for sure
you've gotta at least get the other first
I understand the new trade limitations but damn, you can't make this deal

I am pissed they traded him at all.
However, I would be much more upset if, as a mavs fan, they traded an all-nba homegrown talent for a big box of hopium on a spreadsheet. I’m a little surprised they couldn’t pry the other trade-able first off the Lakers though.
Have any of those “massive trade returns” everyone is pumping as the alternative ever amounted to any actual winning other than the Celtics?
I’m not infatuated with it, but at least the basketball on the court will still be good.
And there has to be another trade, because I don’t believe you can actually plan to play one of the centers with AD and PJ for huge minutes unless they’re ready for Lively to actually become a corner 3 pt threat.

This is the inefficiency/cost in fixating on a specific player, for sure.

How tf was there no bidding war? The Mavs could’ve got the biggest haul in NBA history yet this is the way they went about it? Sketch as frick
Because they got who they wanted
It was said last year that Cuban wanted AD

OKC is doing pretty well. They currently leading the West by like 7 games

Just seeing it. It's insane. How the entire rest of the league somehow gets jedi mind tricked to bend to the Lakers' will for the entirety of NBA history is baffling.

For the Celtics, I also like Tatum better. I don’t see how that’s a crazy take.

OKC was founded on a deal of fortune 6 years ago that, like this deal for the Mavs and unlike the other deals people are talking about, has an actual basketball player as the cornerstone of the return.
