Hey Aspy... How easy is it to get involved with helping trainers/teams? Just as a part time gig?

Be ready to get up at 4 am 7 days a week. You have to start at the bottom as a hotwalker and get drug around by large horrid mannered animals.

When I'd help boy on weekends I had to brace up both ankles pretty good.

Who's this boy you always refer about? So no part time help is ever needed?

Hubby

He's a trainer

Not really, but you can try. You live anywhere near a track?

Good story on the chrb ruling. Also, in the comments it says the horse tested at .39 when the limit is .37. Boy has been teaching me more about milk shaking and says it spikes the tco2 level waaaay up, not .02.They test before the race, btw

Aspy, I have a spare $12,500. Should I get into claiming?

Sure thing!

But go for a 5-10 claim and save the rest for vet/training bills.

I know a good trainer if you're looking

But seriously, it can get expensive. Choose carefully so you'll get one with a few conditions left that will hopefully win and get claimed next out. Best way to see profit.

I hope so, but it's so tough to win three in a row at any level, much less three Grade I stakes in a row.

Can I just say a big old frick you to ny?

They are driving me crazy with new rules, etc.

Not saying a private barn/blood tests 3 days before a race are a bad idea, but it wouldn't be done if not for oneill.

Poor guy.

quote:

So far, nine of the 12 horses who are expected to run in the 1  1/2-mile Belmont are already on the grounds. One of the exceptions is Union Rags, the expected second choice, who is at Fair Hill training center in Maryland with his trainer, Michael Matz.
Matz said on Wednesday that he had expected to ship Union Rags to Belmont next Wednesday or Thursday.

“I guess we’re coming Wednesday,” Matz said.

Matz said that he had last discussed his schedule with the Belmont Park stewards on Saturday during a visit to Belmont Park, and he also said that he had not received any notice of the new protocols until a reporter informed him on Wednesday after the announcement.

“Jesus, do they make this stuff up as they go along?” Matz said.

Best quote in the whole story.

What do you think about IHA not having a workout before the race? They are just galloping him

I'm ok with it. He's one of 2 running in all 3 races. He's plenty fit.

He almost 2 minute licks his gallops, so he's getting plenty of air

Alpha is out for the Belmont. He was a long shot but I have seen worst horse win it. He was bred to go the distance.
