If Texas believes they can get Beard they will bend over backwards to clear the path for Smart to Michigan

Shaka's style doesntvwork anymore. The 40 minutes of hell type stuff that Anderson, Smart, and Huggins run now doesn't lend itself to modern rules.

Yeah there’s been too many “miracle” Final 4 runs recently to hang a whole career on it

I've said it again and again: his final four run was a fluke that masks an otherwise unimpressive resume.

False. He averaged 27 wins and 9 losses in 6 years at VCU. The Rams won 2 conference tourney titles. They went to the NCAA tourney 5 of 6 years, advancing to a F4 and twice to the round of 32. They won the CBI in his first year.

That’s impressive. It was obviously overrated by the Final Four, but it’s not like the program was shite outside of that season.

Repeating something stupid and you still
Haven’t figured it out.

Getting a HC job 10 years after graduation is impressive.

Making the tourney 5/6 at VCU is impressive.

Finishing upper half of conference 5/6 alVCU is impressive.

That is impressive. It is VCU.

Whether it is impressive enough to get the Texas job is a separate question.

You clearly have a distorted view. Buzz Williams landed Marquette w a losing record at New Orleans.

Got the job st Tech with 5/6 tourneys and one elite 8. Far better program

Got A&M w best finish of 5th and a sweet 16.

Wade was the reason for Shaka's success at VCU. Great news for Texas and terrible hire by Michigan.

Billy Donovan is a snake.

He is trying to push Shaka to Michigan to take the Texas job.

Donovan supposedly has been Texas #1 candidate for awhile.

With Will Wade on staff:

Final Four
Second Round of NCAA
Second Round of NCAA

Without Will Wade on staff:

Lost in First Round
Lost in First Round

VCU is one of the best mid major jobs in the country. Outside of a final four run his time at VCU was the same as Jeff Capel, Anthony Grant, and Will Wade. Mike Rhoades made the tournament last year in his 2nd year. What made Shaka Smart teams have success was his full court press and he can’t run it anymore with rule changes. His teams at VCU would foul out of games if played with today’s rules.

I think you have to consider the fact that Michigan is a lot different than Texas when it comes to their basketball programs.

Could be a good hire.

Michigan has higher expectations than Texas. Michigan was playing for a national championship just last year. Smart seems like a settle to me.
