SEC needs to try and pry TAMU out of the Big-12, asap. After that, add Miami and be done with it.

Miami has nothing in common with the SEC members. Add Rutgers to the Big 10

SEC doesn't need expansion. We get enough national exposure as is without adding an additional 4 teams to split up our current profit. It would be cool from a fan's perspective, but I want LSU to bring in as much money as possible

Renegotiate with ESPN.

Conf shake-ups are coming. I'm sure the SEC powers that be will get ahead of the 8-ball.

why would they renegotiate? they signed a FIFTEEN year deal with the SEC

the more the SEC adds, the better the deal ESPN gets

what is the SEC going to do, tell ESPN to frick off and get left in the cold? no

the SEC has no leverage

Slo, you are acting as if renegotiation is a dirty word. The value of the contract would not change by much, and ultimately ESPN/SEC want to be in business with each other. The SEC would get some more jack and ESPN would be in the Texas/So. Florida markets. It's a win-win. We aren't talking about gobs of money here, this is peanuts.

VT adds the Beltway TV market which is huge. They'd probably be 1st choice of SEC and I rarely ever see them mentioned.

it's not

ESPN just has all the leverage

if the pac16 happens, ESPN may want to be in business with the pac16

15 years isn't infinity dude. And obviously there would be playoffs that increase the revenue sharing pot by over a billion a year.

If SEC16 has 5 schools in the new NCAA 16 team playoffs that's like $275 million shared by all SEC schools (on top of regular season TV deals).

So yeah you want more good teams regardless of current deal (which would be redone anyway).

a. that revenue # is too high
b. i don't think playoffs will occur anytime soon b/c there will not be a way to divide the money up well
c. 4 teams in a playoff will make the #s even harder

For everybody talking about Duke and UNC making us a bball conference - forget it. There's NO money in bball.

If SEC expands it will go after football schools like FSU, VT, Clemson. Programs that could be perennial contendersfor the playoffs and an extra cut of that huge billion dollar pie.

Playoffs are inevitible SFP. And a billion is not too high at all.

i think the NFL's REGULAR SEASON deals, other than MNF and SNF, is a little over a bil/year

tell me how the conferences would agree to split up the playoff money, and how much of a cut teh NCAA would demand first

radio in Los Angeles said they hear the SEC would go after Clemson, GT, FSU, and Miami IF they expand.

But, said they may not expand depending on how the TV money looks like it will be allocated.

The SEC would be foolish if they don't take a run at Texas, OU or TAMU.

problem is it to get Texas and A&M you prob have to take Baylor and TTech.

Who is better? those 4 or GT, Clemson, FSU, and Miami.

i like the Texas TV markets, but getting a stranglehold on the ATL and all of Florida is not bad either.

eta: plus, all 4 of the ACC schools already have natural rivals in the SEC.
