yeah my best friend's little brother was a diagnosed schizophrenic. Incredible bright kid, like scary level of genius but completely insane. He was in and out of jail, then somehow worked his way up to being a student at Emory, then went back downhill. He was hoarding his meds and was found wandering the streets telling the neighbors the aliens were coming. Dad came from Louisiana to Atlanta and he had bought ungodly amounts of things like paper towels and cleaning supplies. Then, he got into a physical altercation with his dad and threw him down the stairs. They had him placed in a 48 hour hold and then he went catatonic for like 2 weeks. Eventually, he moved back in with his parents, got a job at a construction site, and seemed to be doing better all things considered. I hate posting this next part, but he eventually took his own life. I like to think he knew he was crazy and didn't want to live that way anymore and put his parents through it. He was only 30 when he passed. Really messed up for a kid that had all the potential in the world. Mental illness is no joke

This sums it up. It is an epidemic in this country that needs to be dealt with. I lost a fellow unit mate from our Iraq unit to PTSD and depression. Killed himself. Left behind a wife and 2 kids.
We need to get a handle on it.
