as a Caps fan, I am still on a high from the Stanley Cup. I did not think I would ever see the day.

Looking forward to OV's pursuit of 50.

And seeing how the Caps handle success.

And no reason to think this way, but I just have a feeling that Toronto will not be as good as people think.

Going to the banner raising tonight.

I think the Sabres surprise a lot of people this year.

Please send photos!

I do think its interesting how quickly all of the experts have written off the Caps. The Athletic, NHL.com, and ESPN's expert picks do not have one Capitals pick, and only one out 50+ people picked them to win the East. I mean, I don't need for them to be the favorite, but they return almost literally the same team as last year, you'd think a few people would pick them.

That said, I don't care. We have a Cup. My suffering is over. If they don't win one this year... I can still die happy. Honestly, I'm on board for other long-suffering fanbases: Go Sharks.

Blues are deep, and finally have a #1 center.

But their season rests on Goaltending. With Husso being forced back to SA, Allen is going to be the #1, and he is key to season.

it all rests on allen, which is scary

No it’s not, he’s a repeat offender. He needs to cut it out with this shite. It was such a dumb hit in a preseason game. Hopefully this sends a message to him and he stops with this bs. The lobbying by Sidney is bullshite though.

Caps fans are so soft. That wasn't even a dirty hit. Clear shoulder to shoulder contact.

I can’t believe my Leafs may have an outside chance at a cup next few years...just hope they don’t take the Caps approach to it-I don’t think I could handle shitting the bed that many times.

I did a free trial last year and they enrolled me for a full season. I got a refund. Need to decide if I want to do the full slate or just Blues games.

Getting suspended for 20 games before the season even starts is peak Tom Wilson. He's in Stanley Cup Playoff form already.

It was a bad hit and it was a goddamn preseason game. I love Tom Wilson, but... Jesus Christ, dude. He obliterated that poor guy, who now looks like the kid from Mask. And it's one thing to lay down and illegal head shot from behind in a hardfought game, but... the preseason? I think that's a huge factor in the suspension, other than his Being Tom Wilson.

I do think sometimes he gets in trouble just because he's bigger and stronger than everyone else, but that hit was pretty indefensible.

I do think 20 games is a bit excessive, but... again. Preseason, dude.

Still, this Dale Hunter hit got 21 games and literally took place after the game was over. It also broke Turgeon's jaw. Hell, Dennis Wideman didn't get 20 games, and he hit a ref.

The game has changed a lot since the Hunter hit. NHL wants hits to the head out of the game. We didn’t know what we know now about concussions back then.

Why the Sharks? Blues have a much longer drought than they have.

Because we're never going to win one. Some of the other franchises with a long drought will at least get one eventually.

And all the Capitals fans here would have said the same thing about their team a year ago too. But it’s interesting now the Sharks are suddenly “loveable losers” that others are pulling for. Even though other teams have longer winless droughts than them.

I notice the same thing with MLB. Scrubs were always “loveable losers” that the masses couldn’t wait to jump on their bandwagon in 2016. But were these same people cheering for the White Sox (who hadn’t won in forever) in the 2005 World Series? Or the Giants (who hadn’t won in forever) in the 2010 World Series? Or the Indians (who hadn’t won in forever) in the 1997 World Series? I somehow doubt it.

So I find it fascinating that some people flock to other bandwagon “loveable loser” teams, but mysteriously won’t gravitate to others for some reason.
