Sean Miller’s buyout is ridiculous. Even if fired with cause, he is owed $10.3M

If Sean Miller gets fired for cause, the way Arizona has written his deal, he would still get roughly 85% of the money he has remaining ($10.3M out of $12M). That’s a virtually unprecedented take for a for cause firing. Most coaches get $0.

Anyone that demands a huge buyout even with cause is probably cheating... See Gus

I've quite literally never even heard of a "with cause" buyout, especially not an 8 figure one.

That is unreal.

Crazy to think that Arizona may fire both their football and basketball coaches inside of 2 months for ethical violations, and still have to pay them a combined $16 million.

Arizona & Arizona State are on the hook for just over $18 million to get rid of two coaches that went a combined 89-66 in their tenure. That figure doesn't included the buyouts for their assistant coaches.

Just so they could turn around and spend another $28 million to hire Kevin Sumlin & Herm Edwards.

Within one month the two schools committed to spending over $50 million in salary, and they have Kevin Sumlin and Herm Edwards to show for it.

That's not only ridiculous but it's actually an incentive to get fired for cause.

It certainly isn’t a deterrent to cheating for sure

as already stated, if anything it suggests that he was given support to cheat

Their AD called Alleva for advice and he told him the contract was solid.

The lawyer who negotiated and drafted this for Arizona should be terminated IMMEDIATELY if he/she hasn’t been already

Most of this comes from an energy company deal that vests this year. Not coming out of Arizona pockets IIRC, but still expensive.
