It’s not just getting lit apparently, there’s got to be more to it. He’s most likely driving drunk and acting drunk/ high in public is my guess. Along with showing up in the clubhouse drunk.
I don’t think the nfl or individual teams would care if he could still perform and appear normal. If he was getting drunk at home and high and never leaving the house, why’s it matter?
Because he had to have been causing a scene and the potential optics been very bad.

It takes a certain type of person to be addicted to alcohol. For most people the hangovers are reason enough to not want to drink all the time.

Since being drafted 9 years ago (with his first suspension 8 years ago), he has averaged an impressive 27 receptions for 472 yards a season. In the last 7 years he's played in 33 games. Christian McCaffrey caught more balls last year than Josh Gordon did in that entire 7 year span.
This goes beyond affinity for weed. He has serious issues and it's time the enabling cease.

The NFLs substance abuse program is kind of like a cartel, once you’re in it you’re in it for life
He came into the league with a past issue with drugs and alcohol so they watched him closer than normal, once he was officially popped the first time (likely for weed or another substance and not alcohol) they put him in the substance abuse program
One you are in that, you are tested CONSTANTLY for drugs. Off-season included.
Knowing he had a problem being an alcoholic in his past, part of his treatment plan to get back into the league from his suspensions included no alcohol. So from that point on he’s also getting popped for any BAC in his test results as well.
And I don’t mean that as an excuse for his frick ups, just that he didn’t have to be “causing a scene” to end up where he’s at.

you don't get hangovers if you just keep drinking

then his days in the NFL are likely done.
How many times have we heard this already about Gordon and AB?

I feel much worse for the layperson who can’t kick these habits or at the very least control them somewhat. Gordon has MILLIONS of reasons to exhaust every option not to mention resources that your average human doesn’t. I mean i do feel for him but im not gonna cry him a river. It’s literally like his 457th frick up
I also don’t want to be a hypocrite because approximately 12 hours from now i have a bottle of wine and a keef blunt with my name on it, but I don’t play pro football.
Tyrann Mathieu is a good example of battling and beating demons. Hell even Ricky Williams managed to stay off the WEEEEEEEEEEDUH long enough for a second chance at a career.

Not really. I had to stop smoking weed for a job and it wasn’t for millions of dollars.

It’s not weed. And as far as I know you aren’t an addict so of course you could stay sober

the hard reality of Gordan's situation is that being allowed to repeatedly come back to the league has hurt his recovery much more than helped it
Posted on 12/23/20 at 9:42 am to Gugich22
The point of feeling sorry for him has passed. He’s now just a frick up

Do you guys really think he would have trouble finding weed in any NFL city, legal or not?
And for the umpteenth time it’s not about the weed.

Disagree. He’s a weapon, fact is teams would help him lay low. They can’t help him.
What portion of the league would have drug and alcohol problems if the league and teams really cared? I’d bet it would be around half the players between weed, pain killers, and alcohol.
He literally admits to coming to the office drunk and getting drunk at the facilities. The sad thing is that if he just got drunk or high at his million dollar house he’d be fine. He brings it to the office over and over.

I'm sure plenty but that's irrelevant to this, he has been flagged for substance issues from the first go round and now has all sorts of stipulations written into contracts with the NFL/new teams. He is not treated (and rightfully so) as a regular NFL player when it comes to testing.

That’s not true tho. He’d still be getting positive drug tests when he went into work no matter where he consumed those things
And as the poster above me said, he’s not under the same standard as other players. It’s a different situation once you are in their substance abuse program

At this point sure, I’ll possibly agree with him. But it wasn’t like that in the beginning.
But you are making assumptions the nfl cares like they say they do, the only thing the nfl cares about is the optics to the nfl. If you can keep it on the downlow they will look the other way, I don’t care what you think they do that’s the truth. I also disagree the NFL does this as randomly as they like to say they do or more players would get popped that’s my point. Gordon wouldn’t have lasted this long in Seattle if the Nfl was following their protocol like they say they are.
Hell we had guys that played high regularly in HS.
