If it’s not performing enhancing drugs then the NFL oughta mind it’s own business

Has he checked himself into rehab before? People have already said it in this thread, but it's sad to see a guy give up so much potential.

EDIT: Also it's weird that players can't play if they're smoking pot. How is that worse than getting trashed and going to strip clubs after games?

Hell no. If I was given the opportunity to make millions a year, but I couldn't drink while making those millions I would have no problem doing it. And I drink 3-4 days a week. He's had all the opportunity in the world to get his shite together and still can't.

This is something a non-addict would say. 3-4 days a week drinking isn’t being an alcoholic. And Gordon is likely doing more than booze.

If you were an addict with access to millions, you wouldn’t be squeaky clean.

I feel the opposite way. At a certain point I say this guy doesn’t give a frick about getting clean and abiding by the rules.

There is a bright side for him.

He's still had a better career than Justin Blackmon, another WR who had/has a substance abuse problem. He only managed to get in 20 career games before his career ended.

And he might have been a Buccaneer instead of a Jaguar, except they had a scout stake out a bar to see how often he showed up.

Former Bucs GM: Scout shadowed Justin Blackmon before 2012 draft
quote:

"We found out there was a bar called the Cricket Inn, or the Cricket, which was a popular bar there at Oklahoma State," Dominik said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. "And so [the scout] would sit there for a week. He sat there for one week, went in every day at 3 o'clock every day and stayed till 11 o'clock at night. That was his job. And we checked: How many times did Justin Blackmon come in? And he came in too many times. And we took him off our board."

Wow. It’s cool to hear the lengths these teams go to scout these athletes.

That scout probably freaked those bartenders out, sitting around for 8 hours solo every single night

The last CBA nixed testing for weed. Josh Gordon's problems have been well documented and it's way more than weed. Dude would get hammered drunk before games and practices and pop xanax, codeine, you name it. The main problem is he couldn't show up to work sober

His first major frick up was staying clean, but on the plane ride to Vegas after the season ended. Drank with teammates. Landed. Tested. Suspended a year.

Alcohol is a huge issue for him unfortunately

Gordon was reinstated earlier this month and was set to rejoin the Seahawks for the stretch run. That won't happen now. Gordon has reportedly suffered a setback with substance abuse, and he can no longer practice or play in games indefinitely. If Gordon did in fact have a substance abuse setback and not something more minor within the terms of his conditional reinstatement, then his days in the NFL are likely done. Gordon last played in Week 15 of 2019.

It's stories like these as to why I'm glad I don't drink and never developed a taste for alcohol.

Given some of my impulses growing up as a teenager and it lingering into adulthood, I really fear for what my life would look like today if I developed an addiction to alcohol. Thank god I never opened that door and found out what was inside. And it will stay shut.

Hasn't he outright admitted he used to get lit before games?

I feel sorry for people the first time or two but when you frick up this many times you've lost my sympathy.

Joking about Gordon being the most physically gifted WR ever? Absolutely not. He’s a true freak of nature.

I mean he’s a freak but he’s not the most talented ever

Moss and Megatron are far more talented dudes off the top of my head
