So what happens to their production guys like Stanford Steve? Are they part of ESPN still, or are they out of a job?

It sounds like Scott is bummed as hell but understands.

Heck it went from the SVP show to SVP and Russillo. He thinks he's a leading banana, and it'll be interesting if it works out like that.

Maybe Russillo is moving on with BS if he feels that disrespected by ESPN and everyone thinking it's SVP's show. If Bill gets his own thing, Russ may move with him

Who the hell is going to watch his show at midnight? This is a career backwards move, makes no sense

It's just gonna be sportscenter with Van Pelt as the anchorage 12 ET. I assume plenty people will be watching like a normal sportscenter

Yeah, I can't tell if Russillo is leaving ESPN altogether or getting promoted.

Scott said something like "you'll go on to do better things whether it's here or somewhere else".

anyone catch SVP's line about showing the response to the showing going away to all of his bosses at ESPN?

This doesn't seem like something these guys are excited about doing.

This is kind of what I'm thinking.

It kind of sounds like Rusillo is ready to move on and not play second fiddle to SVP.

Would not be surprised at all if he went off with Bill Simmons and they started something together. I think they are pretty close friends too.

It definitely does not have that whole "promotion" vibe, but they regularly bust on Collin Cowherd and Mike & Mike.

Yea. Sounds like ESPN has "asked" SVP more than once to do the Midnight SC and he's told them no...and he's run out of no's...

And Ryen replied with a snarky "I don’t provide enough original content." They're not showing him the money.

I don't think so...He basically said that ESPN does not feel like the show will be successful without the SVP name in it.

If Russ feels so disrespected and moves on why does SVP think he has to do the same? Dude has made loyalty to Russ. Russillo sounds like he's done w/ESPN all together.

the arrogant and brooding Russillo palatable. I like and respect Russillo a lot, but he needs a guy like SVP to balance him out. Otherwise, he becomes exhausting. Only guy I've heard fill that role well is Virk

A ton of rusillos "arrogance" is just dry sarcasm IMO

Seems like the ESPN brass wanted them to be more revenue generators than dudes talking sports. Glad they decided to quit rather than change
