Would John Cooper have won a natty if there were a playoff in the ‘90s? ‘96 or ‘98?

LSU fans are a funny bunch. They can call their two previous HCs idiots and say how dumb they are, but get so defensive when someone else agrees with them

Did you forget your fanbase was ready to fire Ryan Day until a month ago?

But no one thinks Ryan Day is an actual moron.

Alabama has arguably the Top 2, Bear & Saban, but not much after that.

Frank Thomas and Wallace Wade are "not much"?

Well, punching an opposing player for making a bad play would just be stupid

Alabama had some impressive coaches:

Wallace Wade (61-13-3): 1925, 1926 & 1930
Frank Thomas (115-24-7): 1934
Paul "Bear" Bryant (232-46-9): 1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978 & 1979
Gene Stallings (70-16-1): 1992
Nick Saban (206-29): 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017 & 2020

All of them are in or about to be in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Day, Meyer and especially Tressel are no better than Stallings..

Bama has top 2 and throw in stallings and they are more impressive.

You're going to need to back up the Stallings argument because it makes no sense. Especially against Meyer.

And comparing Miles and Ogeron to Tressel and Meyer is criminal as head coaches.

Miles/Tressel is a fair comparison as both are worse than their records/championships would suggest, yet both were good head coaches for a period. Hell, both even had wins vacated for their schools.

Anyone seriously comparing O to Urban is trolling.

As far as best coaches, not sure why people are leaving some of Bama’s championship coaches off the list while mentioning everyone else’s.

I’m no Bama supporter, but when you have the top 2 + a few others with championships, you’re at the top of the list.

Looking at the lists I'd can confidently say that Ohio State, Alabama, USC and Notre Dame are head and shoulders above the rest of the field when you consider quality, consistency and depth. Oklahoma isn't far off.

They did a segment during the game showing some of these players and coaches in the audience and it was a fairly impressive and distinctive list.

LSU fans bash Miles and O constantly until it's time to have a discussion about which school has had the best coaches...

The national championship was split that year.

Auburn was awarded the national championship by the AP while Ohio State was awarded the national championship by the Coaches.
