Steve Patterson is no good ole boy. If he thinks the Texas brass is interfering with the program, they will be removed from the program. Remember, Strong is Patterson's hand picked hire, he has a lot riding on the success of coach Strong.

The good ole boy network should have gotten a wake up call when Mora Jr. shot them down to stay at UCLA. UTa isn't what it used to be.

This is more like Muschamp taking over for Meyer than any other coaching change that I've seen

from what i understand the boosters backed Muschamp. But then again, they didn't want Strong for an idiotic reason.

It's easier to come in with hardline rules and loosen them then to come in easy and then get stricter. He'll clearly loosen up as time goes on, but this is the kind of culture change you need right after a country club coach.

I think he can win right away mainly because I think any good coach could win right away at Texas. They'll contend for the Big 12 next season. Talent wasn't the issue.

Charlie Strong may just be the man Texas needs. Seems like once these hot shot HS stars get to UT they fricking coast until draft time.

You don't think the UT brass want the players to be discplined, attend class, and do things as a team?

I think the brass care what the boosters think, and the boosters couldn't give less of a shite whether they go to class or live in the same dorm. Discipline I'm sure is important to them, but only as a means to more Ws.

The reason this statement got so tiring the last 10 years is because it was *true*.

Of course this new environment will not mean anything after a 6 or 7 win season. Time will tell, but nothing not to like about the dude so far!

He better win in the next coming years otherwise that hard arse approach is going to get old very quickly.

Yep. This is the bad thing with the hard arse approach. If you don't win, you are viewed as an a-hole and everyone hates you, including your own players.

Saban's shite wouldn't fly without the NCs to back it up. But, it's exactly what is needed for UT. LSU needed it back in 2000 and it turned out well for us.

You missed my point. They won't really give a shite about a lack of discipline if the team is winning.

Basically all they care about is winning. Not discipline, not comraderie, and not class attendance and grades.

Per @JesusInsideTex, boot camp starts today at 3:30. Coaches have told players some of them are going to quit.
