Save College Sports Act - why should D1 Football, Basketball players take a NIL paycut

When they're the only sports making money and funding baseball, volleyball, rowing, hockey, lacrosse and the women's sports ? 85% of college athletes are in non revenue sports
More people need to call BS on this sanctimonious nonsense.
John Calipari has made well over $100 million coaching basketball and left three college head-coaching jobs for other opportunities. Two programs he coached had Final Four appearances vacated.
Now he’s backing PCSA to “save college sports.”
Here are my questions: What is he putting on the table? A salary cap? A pay cut? Limits on his own mobility?

Any cap on player compensation on NIL is terrible.

Who cares. Tell them them what they’ll accept and if they don’t like it they do t have to play.
Can’t wrap my head around why colleges and fans have to give in to 18-25 ups. Frick’em. They don’t have the power unless given to them.
We could literally go back to how it was 20 yrs ago if we had the nuts to do so. Put the scholarship/housing contract in front of them, and move on if they don’t sign.

The schools themselves begun finding ways around the NCAA rules to recruit better athletes to win games but You blame the athletes for that.

Wtf are you blabbering about??? Nothing “socialist” about going back to the way it was supposed to be. Scholarships and housing. Like it or not idgaf. If all schools stuck to that then players would have to accept it. Why the employees have been given all the power is ridiculous.

That was my point. Reinstalling all the stuff that was declared illegal by the courts is bullshite.

These kids will want to play no matter what. The ncaa, all colleges have the power if they just stick to a education scholarship/housing contract that they sign at 18. Enforcing rules.
If they don’t accept it, then they don’t play anywhere.

Why?
It took over a hundred years for judges to start applying the law(s) in question to college sports. Even with that the Supreme Court decision on education benefits wasn’t anywhere as broad or loose as judges have been deciding ever sense. In fact the decision mentioned seeing the market argument for college sports distinguishing itself from professional sports, but that didnt really play into the decision on the limits the NCAA had put on education benefits that were basis for the case. How is all that less bullshite than elected members of Congress passing a law?
Regardless the players’ NIL is not all true Name, image, and likeness.

I agree with this position. I also agree with making NIL deals tied to university attendance and even allowing buyout language in these contracts.
