Why do we not hear of tons of players with high ankle sprains getting “tightrope surgery”?

Tua knew the stakes. He's a competitor and wanted to play. Saban didn't pressure him into anything.
The play was terribly unfortunate but no one could have know that he would have hit or fallen in such a manner.
You can dislike Saban etc but he didn't cause Tua to get hurt. Players tell coaches all the time that they can't go on and need to sit out and Tua clearly never did that.

This is getting ridiculous. I’m tired of hearing about Tua, Saban, Alabama, and all that shite on an LSU forum. I hate these mofos but Saban is not at fault for what happened yesterday, nobody is. It was a freak accident that has a chance of happening to any of the 22 players on the field.

Aside from that, it’s absolutely devastating to see a football player and a competitor like Tua, have something happen to him like that. I feel really bad for the kid because he’s still just a kid playing something he loves and is an extremely humble person. This is all that matters in this situation and so many of you just need to relax. We’re just fans and no one did anything wrong in this situation so just stfu about Saban please. Let’s talk LSU

He may never be the same again you do realize this right? There is a nice write up by a doctor about this injury. It may take 2 years to get right if he ever gets right the bone has to heal. Then you are going to have arthritis there then possibly down the road a hip replacement! Saban fricked this young man! He had nothing to prove running a 2 min offense up 35-7 already injured!

Wow, that article does not paint a pretty picture for Tua going forward. It's sad that he was still in the game up at least 4 scores, but this is football and things happen.

I'm sure Saban was looking for a 70 point victory to influence the voters into backing in to another championship series.

You are talking about a meaningless bowl game man! Up 35-7 game is in hand your player is already injured. You pull him for the sake of your team and his future and your teams future !

Dude calm down. Its unfortunate for Tua, yes. Hes a good kid and one gutsy terrific QB.

Alabama's hopes to get into the Final 4 most likely went down with Tua.
Just as the gumps were blowing the doors off State, giving renewed hope to the faithful that they are 1 of the best 4, its over. Now theres 100's of people and fans suffering over there. Its a devastating reality in 1 play. BAM! and its over.
Saban's priority that day, was to beat the living hell out of them and have Tua put up excellent numbers. Some years it just doesnt go right. No one is immune, player or coach.

It was a heckuva run, I will give Saban and the gumps that. But the playoff run ended with Tua's hip.

Im sure half the pundits will blame Saban. The other half will say it wasnt even halftime. You have a great QB and great receivers in a two minute opportunity to get style points with a blowout halftime domination. You better take it.
They were #5 on the outside looking to move into the top 4.
When you dont control your destiny, you better beat the hell out of everyone, if you can.

Pick your side, theres plenty of ammo for you to make your case, either way.

But, Does it matter? Saban isnt going any where.

Move on, there's nothing to gain here.

But the decline is real.

good lord - Tua's hip injury is unrelated to any of his prior injuries.

Season/career ending injuries can happen on any play at any time during any game. Just bad luck that Tua fell on his knee.

Honestly, rushing a guy back from surgery when he's not ready should be grounds for dismissal.

I don't think that's a fair description of what happened. Tua was good enough to play last week. I think it's fair to ask the question of whether or not he was given a shot for pain last week or this week. If he required a pain shot, that is damning given the outcome. Those questions need to be asked.

One thing that is inexcusable is that the Alabama staff literally tried to have Tua walk off after the injury. They had him on his feet and his hip was fricking dislocated. That is beyond inexcusable.

Wrong board

Why hasn’t an admin moved this to the SEC Rant?
Do y’all actually like these topics on the Tiger Rant that have NOTHING to do with LSU?
I’m tired of seeing this board cluttered with this crap.

There's no way of knowing if the ankle injury contributed to the hip injury. It's documented that when one part of the body's motor system (skeleton, muscle, nerves) is compromised, we subconsciously compensate by letting other parts take stress off the injured part, which results in losing conditioning in the parts being compensated for. As I said, no way of knowing for sure, but he was certainly at some degree of enhanced risk to the right leg structure.
I don't believe Saban would knowingly subject his player to any risk the player, with doctor's advice, didn't ask for.

So I’m assuming that everybody who is faulting Saban for having Tua in the game up 35-7 STILL IM THE FIRST HALF is equally critical of O for letting Burrow finishes the first half and start the 3rd quarter when we were up 3 scores

What do you think would happen when the Alabama team doctor tells the coaches "we should let this kid heal a few more weeks" They get a new doctor. That's what happens when millions and millions of dollars are at stake.

So you are sayin that when a team doc says a player is not healthy enough to play, the team fires that doc and hires one that clears the player? In the middle of the season?

Do you have any shred of evidence that this happens?

And do you think a university would allow them to be open to lawsuits over this? Doc A documents that player is not clear to play. Doc A is fired and doc B comes in and immediately clears the player. Player reinjures during the next game and career is over.

If there is any paper trail at all, that’s a lawsuit and doc B potentially places his license in jeopardy.

It’s very common in those with ankle and knee problems to develop major hip issues due to overcompensating and also using muscles in ways that you’re not used to.

Two 300 pound defensive linemen landed on his back when his hip was flexed under him. This is not overcompensation or overexertion.

Lots of wishful thinking from some of you. But you guys keep up the good "fight" against evil Machine Saban.

I'd like to think this is trolling, but we know what you guys are after.
