Ryan Day is the best coach in the new 12 team playoff era. We will see if and how long that holds. He’s not very good in the regular season against a very weak Big 18 schedule.

Notre Dame had Rockne and Leahy basically back-to-back, the two highest winning %s.
1. 884
2. 864
Dominated the 20s like the Yankees and kept winning in the 50s like the Yankees.

He has a legitimate chance to go down as the Greatest Coach of All Time.
Yikes.

Slow your roll skip - it was 4. Ohio State didn’t even play for their conference championship. Day can coast on 1-2 losses a year only having to play 1-2 teams with a pulse, and joy ride in the playoffs.
Michigan 8-5 Loss
Tennessee 10-3
Oregon 13-1
Texas 13-3
ND 14-2
ND made the title by benefiting from hosting and overrated Indiana, a Georgia team without their QB, and Penn State (Big Game Franklin and Allan). The same team who lost to NIU.
They split their series with Oregon.
They spanked Tennessee, had a decent game with Texas who went to 2OT with Arizona state the weekend before.
They didn’t exactly beat world class teams.

LSU fans love to hate on this guy, but would you trade Day for Kelly straight up? I’m thinking yes…

The schedule is a breeze because of how good Day/OSU are.

Don't understand the hate people have for this guy.
Assume that it's fear & jealousy.
Highest winning percentage in College Football History.
Reigning National Champs.
Currently Ranked #1
But he sucks, yeah that makes sense

It is less about hating Ryan Day, so much as thinking he inherited a good team.
The hate is for Ohio State.

Ryan Day is 66-6 in the regular season (91.2%).
That's even better than Pete Carroll's epic run at Southern Cal from 2002 - 2008, where he was 73-8 (90.1%).
The only other comparable run was Nick Saban at Bama from '11 to '18, where he went 90-6 (93.8%).

Kirby Smart is 108-20. Good, but it's not Ryan Day. And Day is looking unstoppable while Kirby is fading fast.
The difference is also that Kirby didn’t take over team at the top of its league and national championship contenders annually under Meyer. Hell Meyer left the team as 13-1 Big Ten champs that just missed out on the playoffs.
It wasn’t some kind of rebuild.

Will muschamp must have had an amazing record after taking over urban meyer's florida program, urban's florida program won more national titles than his ohio state program so that must have been an even better situation to take over.

Nobody is denying that. The original post was around win %. He didn't have to do much to build the program.

Thanks Urban.
Urban left OSU in 2018. Most if not all of his main stars were gone before COVID. I don’t care for OSU but that was all Day in the 2-3 years leading up to OSU’s national championship. Anyone acting like Day is a mediocre coach is straight up in denial. He’s a phenomenal coach.

Maybe you need to learn to count and read...and Texas who was #1 to start the season and still in the top 10
That is more hard teams than any SEC schedule has on it for a whole season, yet we are acting like it doesn't matter.
They beat every other top team in the country last year aside from UGA who lost to ND...who OSU beat.
Oregon
Texas
ND
Tennessee
Indiana
PSU
It's literally absurd that anyone is acting like that's not massive.

UGA won 10 or more games in 4 of the 5 years prior to Smart getting there. That was a top 15 program when Smart got there. Tons of talent already on the roster as well and a great recruiting footprint.
It wasn't OSU admittedly, but Smart also went 8-5 his first year and he was on a longer leash. Day hasn't won less than 11 games (outside the Covid year when they won every game until playing Bama).

I would be curious as to who would not want Day if their program ever had an opening?
Posted on 10/1/25 at 11:56 am to Muahahaha
The only programs in the entire country that would potentially so no to day are Oregon and Georgia
