Madison and Huntsville can hardly be considered separate towns. The new stadium is like 2 miles from downtown Huntsville and all interstate. Minor league baseball isn’t about being in some huge population center, it’s about convenience and marketing. The baby cakes failed in New Orleans because nobody wanted to go out to Airline. Joe Davis Stadium (former Huntsville Stars stadium) was/is a dump. The Madison stadium will be in the middle of a huge mixed use development and should be fairly successful.
Look at Birmingham, people doubted the barons move downtown and out of the “wealthy suburb” of Hoover but it has worked out pretty well for them.
