What? Y'all truly think a rookie having a chip on his shoulder and wanting to beat the vets at a 3 point game while improving his 3 point shooting is amazing? Y'all really pick and choose what's amazing.
No, the fact that it's been said he's like that in all aspects of his life is what's amazing. Same mentality Jordan had (has?).
That was just one example that Horry chose to use.

quote:Horry said that that mentality is the common denominator on championship teams:
I don't mean to be a "that dude" but what's impressive about him shooting tons of 3s? Every single great player has that exact same story or something similar.
quote:If you read the full article, he mentioned a story about how the Rockets were 22-2 at Christmas time, and Hakeem pulled Horry aside at a Christmas party and asked him if he was serious about winning because he couldn't tell from his demeanor.
The common denominator in every championship team is the mentality that Kobe has, and the mentality that Hakeem had with me at that Christmas party. You have to be so obsessed with winning that you pull no punches with your teammates, even when you’re in first place. Even when you’re a defending champ.
He said players like Hakeem and Kobe all have the same mentality.
He just said of all of them, Kobe worked the hardest.

I agree that Rudy T was a great coach

Rudy is a great coach, and underrated, but I'll disagree with him being the best.
From the article it just seemed like he meshed with Horry the best and utilized players' floor knowledge.
He also has a small sample size to judge Phil and Pop compared to their longevity.

Could you tell us some of the experiences you had with players while playing in the nba?

Kobe worked his arse off and still shot around 43%?
That kind of sucks

Mr. Horry is mistaken.

SVP and Rusillo discussed this type of situation.
Because he's an athlete doesn't mean he's always right.
Downvote me if you want...but if you polled GMs and other players I feel like the majority would have Rudy T number three out of that trio.

I totally agree. I just mentioned that his sample size to judge was small. He played for 100% of Rudy T's titles, 40% of Pop's 5, and none of Phil's Bulls' teams.
He's entitled to his opinion and provides his reasoning. I just respectfully disagree.

How many NBA championship teams have you played for? I know they say everyone is entitled to an opinion but that's not true. Unless you've played on more than one NBA championship team you have no right to dispute what Robert Horry has said. Sometimes as fans we need to shut the hell up and listen to the players.

That's some bulletproof logic with absolutely no flaws or holes
