Timeout.

You think these schools are not already providing “health care benefits and shite” for these athletes?

How stupid are you, exactly?

You might be surprised to learn that they are only required to provide medical coverage for health issues related to athletics.

So no, they do not receive generalized health care coverage as part of their compensation package. Providing that kind of coverage would be significantly more expensive for the schools, as they would be on the hook if a student athlete got cancer or MS or some chronic condition.

But hey, what do I know? I guess I'm just stupid.

And you are definitely stupid enough to not realize that while they are on a roster, any medical expense is viewed as an issue related to athletics. Including elective things like braces.

Yes, they do.

Try reading ncaa bylaw 16.4

Clearly, literally nothing.

Yes, you are.

As discussed earlier, the majority of NCAA Division I universities do provide insurance for their student-athletes.[31] However, this is not required by the NCAA.[32] Many universities only provide secondary insurance programs. These programs only cover expenses that are not covered by the student’s personal insurance or their parents’ insurance.[33] Sometimes, when a student-athletee is no longer enrolled under scholarship, the school will end these benefits.[34] Furthermore, the NCAA permits universities to pay for medical expenses and services to student-athletes and former student-athletes, but it is not required.[35]

Imagine posting that and thinking it somehow invalidates anything I’ve said on this topic.

Additionally, All schools with Division I sports programs must: Cover out-of-pocket medical expenses (copayments, deductibles, etc.) during a student-athlete’s playing career.

Start letting the reality and inevitability of your stupidity prevent you from publicly expressing your thoughts. Moron.

And when are you going to comment on this? LINK

Hopefully so, it’s destroying college football. Players getting paid is one thing, even though a little common sense wouldn’t hurt on that end. The “Portal” and what it allows was never good for college football, although it’s hard to hate on the athletes that won’t make it in the NFL that take advantage of it.

I think you misunderstood this thread lol.

The transfer window/portal isnt going away. Its just now....the entire window.

Football is pretty much a fall semester sport, but what about sports like basketball and hockey? Could we see a top basketball player start the season with one team, leave at semester, and enroll at a new school and join a new team over the Christmas break?

NCAA pretty much just said they could do that.

I agree with you. But, I think most of the major universities don't want athletes to be employees either.

I think they are angling for an anti trust exemption which is about the only thing that will restore order to college sports.

They won’t have to… a lawyer will argue he’s an athlete not a student.

At what point will they let them change teams in the middle of the season?

Honestly, it would be impossible to enroll at another school mid-semester as a student. So, between semesters or once they are no longer students?

He signed a two year contract with the school.

I'd say this situation is being used by UW and B1G for reasons.

Do you think a player that signs a two year contract should be able to change his mind a week later and go somewhere else?

There’s no evidence that he did…I doubt UW would want to make public their NIL dealings anyways.

Read the fricking statement from UW posted above. You think the University is lying?

I’m not taking their word for it. Show us the agreement he signed and the signature and I’ll believe it

If an All-American QB is going to transfer to your team trying to make the playoffs you think they’ll say no if the rules allow them to say yes?
Agreed, but it won't be a QB, too integral to the system (unless you get an UGA-style QB injury, but early enough to where you could use another guy).

A stud RB, lockdown corner, bigtime WR etc? Yeah, that's going to happen sometime down the road.

I posted awhile back, it's probably going to happen to baseball or basketball first. LSU could have used an experienced inside scorer when Reed went down. Something like that, in the future, we probably see a guy transfer in over the semester/holiday break.
Might see a pitcher move after the spring, which coincides with the conference tourneys in baseball.
