Stephen F Austin vs Jacksonville State in Montgomery. From next Alabama coach to Michigan coach, Arizona and now Jacksonville State. Amazing to think what could’ve been:

he's made millions and he's still working. his high water mark was very nice as human endevors go.

I bet he's making more than 98% of posters who see this thread.
and he gets to lead his team onto the field.

solid.

Between turning down Alabama at the last second and the fallout of the 2007 Pitt/WVU game, he's been the central figure in maybe the two most important coaching stories in the last 20 years.

That’s the only time I’ve legitimately felt bad for a college head coach. That postgame press conference you could tell that loss completely broke him

Pitt. loved it. I did time there in computerland in the cathedral.

more recently I watched as Pitt missed 3 fg under 40 yards to let off Notre Dame in OT get a playoff spot.

He gave LSU a title in 2007

He cost LSU 2-3 more titles, though

RichRod wasn't on the sideline for that game. Bill Stewart was. To this day, I believe Les Miles would have been the Michigan coach had WVU beaten Pitt.

I always wonder if he actually backed out or Bama got word Saban wanted in so they pulled the rug from him

We live in the bad timeline - Rich Rod was supposed to go to Bama and Saban to Texas.

Don’t forget his stint at Tulane.
He was offensive coordinator their undefeated season with Shaun King.
Nobody could stop his offense.

Bad memories of him. He was treated like a douche not too far into his days at UM, but he also was being a douche. Reciprocal treatment.
