The Colts dodged two bullets with the first pick in the NFL draft. They took Peyton Manning instead of Ryan Leaf, and Andrew Luck instead of Robert Griffin III. Can you imagine how screwed that franchise would have been without Manning or Luck?

He was awful until we were down 3 scores and played catch up vs the awful colts D. I think we was sacked 5 maybe 6 times.

I dont even get mad anymore

This seems like the combination of a terribly run organization with a young quarterback who needs to handle that chaos better.

It will be interesting to see where he lands. With the right organization maybe RG3 could grow into a complete QB.

No kidding.

Ryan Leaf - biggest bust in NFL history at the time
RG3 - shaping up to be a bust

as opposed to:

Peyton Manning - arguably the greatest QB ever
Andrew Luck - best young QB in the league

RG3 is a great opportunity for a struggling team. He was at his best as a rookie when they let him run wild. He sucks as a "franchise" QB who has to be protected from hits. If all you invest in him is a 4th rounder you can let him play like he did in college and not worry about it if he tears an ACL again. He's worth a gamble for a QB desperate team.

Watch RG3 take off once he leaves.

We are a toxic franchise

The problem is that I doubt a smart team is going to wind up taking him. He's going to wind up going to a Jacksonville or a Buffalo and he'll be doomed to fail from the start.

How Snyder turned on RGIII is that Gruden's coaching staff went to him and the GM and showed footage of the Tampa Bay game where RGIII literally missed on plays when ALL FIVE of his receivers were open at the same time.

There's a screenshot of the worst offending play somewhere (I guess Grantland) but I'm too tired to hunt it down and link.

kige the second part, they are the raiders of 10-15 years ago.

RG3's potential is really up in the air tho - he is completely unable to function as a drop back QB right now and he should be able to read a defense by now.

Meh, according to Greg Cosell (and others), he needs immediate remedial training in mechanics alone and additional work in learning how to read NFL defenses and make read progressions.

I think quite literally the only coach he could succeed under would be Chip Kelly, but Washington isn't going to trade him to a division rival.

Greg Cosell
I forget which podcast he came on and talked about RGIII (I think the Ross Tucker podcast), but it was very insightful and damning.

Ricky William's cost was 2 1sts, 2 3rds, 1 4th, 1 5th, 1 6th, and 1 7th.

We recouped 2 1st rounders.

So really, it costed us 2 3rds, 1 4th, 1 5th, 1 6th, and 1 7th.

That isn't as bad lol

And drafting a QB first overall is harder than you think. There's a lot of pressure on that pick and you're strapping your franchise on the back of an unproven 22 year old for the next 4 years. frick that pick up and it almost doesn't matter what else you do. A bunch of people are losing their jobs.

Lolololol!

It's going to take on hell of a QB coach for RG3 to take off.

Either that, or an offense that requires you to throw to your first read every time.

If the Colts had not picked Manning there is no telling what the franchise would have done to find a QB. So there is the probability that they would not have had the worst record, and chance, to pick Luck.

With the if game, they also could have picked Brady, Rodgers, etc.

The guy just has some serious growing up to do. You can tell he has an attitude problem just by hearing him speak. The worst thing that could've happened to him was that early success in his first couple of games. He thought it would be easy.

He's not someone that's incapable of learning how to play the position at the NFL level. He's just too arrogant right now to realize that he needs to.
