Just curious, have you ever served this country? I know I didn’t serve my country in combat, only to hear the “Black National Anthem” being played during the presentation of the Flag. I don’t care if it’s before they play the national anthem or for just 1 game. This is ridiculous. Imagine thinking this isn’t about the idea of a conversation about changing the anthem or flag? Imagine thinking this is solely about “police brutality”.

The NFL only has three black coaches and two black GMs, but this is what they came up with to let black folks know they care.
What in the kente cloth on Capitol Hill is this?

can’t wait until the NFL figures out nobody black knows the second verse of Lift Every Voice and Sing

So if I kneel during that anthem, am I wrong?
Which one?
They’re playing two

First off, I respect your service. Thank you.
I'm not sure I understand how you think this cuts into the anthem or flag. It's not going to affect the regular pregame actions with either.
Also, this happens on a semi-regular basis. That's generally where teams put moments of silence, thank you videos for returning players, etc. I mean, if the Celtics can play a thank you video to Isaiah Thomas at that point, this actually seems more dignified.

I'll be honest, I don't think that's what this is about. I think this is about Roger Goodell making a ham handed attempt to compensate for the criticism he got for being late to respond in the wake of Floyd and the emergence of BLM.

They can form there own country if they want more segregation, no more handouts or food stamps from us tax payers

Why does Roger Goodell have to respond to what happened to George Floyd? This is a huge problem in this country. The death of George Floyd had zero to do with Roger Goodell, Coca-Cola, Home Depot, Nabisco, or any other major corporation. Everyone running to social media to tweet a hashtag doesn’t make a bit of difference.

There is no “black national anthem” since there is no “black nation.” So no they’re not playing two.

So which one you gonna kneel for?

Damn, you know it's probably a bad idea if even Jemele Hill isn't on board.

We do not kneel
Btw it’s they’re not their to express they are.

It's like this. Corporations do things to appear caring.
Like with Breast Cancer Awareness month or Salute to Service month. They're done to appear caring because that's good PR. The proceeds don't go to charity, so who knows how genuine it is.
Corporations do a lot of things for PR purposes. They don't all have to make a difference. It's not all that new a concept.
More to the point, the fallout happened. That's why I see this as driven by an attempt avoid bad PR.

Well duh they're pandering, doesn't mean that it's a savvy business move and it could easily backfire
Posted on 7/2/20 at 7:23 pm to RLDSC FAN
So are they playing this in addition to the star spangled banner?
Do people not see how this is the "separate but equal" bullshite that the Civil Rights Movement fought against?

I didn't predict how well or poorly it would go.
Dude said this was the first step in dismantling the national anthem and flag. I think your pandering for PR is far closer to the truth.

Will the White Anthem follow?

I recommend John Mayer playing every rose has its thorn.

I figured Smack My Bitch Up would have been more appropriate.
