I'd take Cousins over Mariota, Goff, Dalton, Flacco, Smith, Foles, Carr, and Goff right now. There's a lot of mediocre and TBD in that list. Cousins has proven it over the last several seasons.

Jared Goff, with Carson Wentzylvania, is the future of the NFL

When you take away Brady/Rivers/ben/brees who prob have 2-3 years each left then he’s top 5 potentially by 2020.
By this logic if you take away Minnesota, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and New England the Saints would have won the Super Bowl

Oh are those cities not going to have NFL teams in 3 years? The logic is that he is already a fringe top 10 QB now, and a lot of the guys ahead of him are established and on their way to retirement. There are a couple young guys who may pass him, but for the time being he is a top QB to get in the market today

Your logic is impeccable...impeccably dumb

He's pretty good.

I find it lame to go public that you'll pay whatever it takes but jets are courting him, recruiting him.

Some guys need to feel loved.

If you are the jets, you want to cut the competition off.
Some gms don't want to get into bidding war.

That’s a pretty bad negotiation tactic

Not if you actually have a cap on what you're willing to spend and want to scare off other teams. However, that might be giving the Jets FO too much credit...

My thoughts exactly. His agent immediately went fully erect.

Smith was considerably better than Cousins in 2017

Good, let them destroy their cap for the next 10 years over a slightly above average QB, because after Brady retires, the AFC East will be up for grabs again and my Buffalo Bills are heading in the right direction just in time.

other than Smith yea and maybe Goff long term

But Kirk is still a 2nd tier QB who turns the ball over tons and is bad in crunch time.

He shouldn't be getting elite QB money.
