quote:

Deion Sanders, a Pro and College Football Hall of Famer, is expected to be named the next head coach at Jackson State, sources told HBCU Sports.

Sources indicated that Sanders, who is currently the offensive coordinator at Trinity Christian High School in Desoto, Texas, where his son, Shedeur, is the starting quarterback, will be named JSU’s head coach.

A press conference, sources said, is expected Monday at 10 a.m.

Sanders surfaced as a candidate for the Jackson State job after the school decided not to move forward with John Hendrick in a surprise move in late August.

A Jackson State spokesman tells @SInow that the school has narrowed its list of head coaching candidates to three.

Deion Sanders, the spokesman says, is not one of them.

A hire is expected to be announced next week.

JSU OC TC Taylor remains a strong candidate, per source.

NEWS: Multiple Jackson State sources tell @SINow the school is finalizing a deal with Deion Sanders to make him their next head coach, despite the university refuting @KennRashad's report.

A hangup getting smoothed out: Sanders is under contract with Under Armour. JSU is Nike.

Weird, he was just on this morning talking about how he excited he is to be with them. I got the sense it was just going to be a weekly Sunday show, though. So, I guess he can do both.

and then there's this... saying Deion is NOT a finalist for the job by SI quoting a JSU spokesman

I would bet if he did get hired as a head coach, barstool would do whatever they need to accommodate that

Would make a lot of sense if that’s why he left NFLN for barstool in the first place

I read that Favre recently stated that he thought Southern Miss should hire Sanders. So much for giving the interim guy a chance, I guess.

JSU athletics denies the Deion Sanders story, says Interim Offensive Coordinator TC Taylor is leading candidate. Other sources say Deion is coming. Here’s (a leaked) Monday’s itinerary:

I know Deion needs to get HC experience but a HBCU seems like a really bad idea.

Ask Doug Williams about how Grambling repeatedly fricked him on money.

I have no idea what HBCU's pay their coaches (I'm guessing 500k+)but this doesn't look like a great move financially or career wise.

I would think he could get a DB job
in P5 or the NFL that would pay better and be a better stepping stone but he probably doesn't wanna
be a second banana to anyone.
