I remember in 2002, 2003 before internet on cell phones, if you ad AT&T you could call #121 to get a march madness update. We did it at Six Flags. The robot voice would say "Syracuse opened up a can of whoop arse on Lipscomb 84-55."

This isn't true. US has never been more dominant than today. In 2000, US stock markets had the same market cap as all of Europe's stock markets combined. Today in 2025? US stock markets (NYSE and NASDAQ) are 6x the market cap of all Europe's stock markets combined.
In 2011, Canada and US had same GDP per Capita $53,000. Today? Canada is at $57,000, US is at $90,000. Many countries have not recovered since the 2008 recession. US did long ago.
Every major tech company is HQ'd here: Meta, Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia, Google, Amazon has solidified US as most dominant country. This has by far biggest reason to do with the further advancing of US dominance since 2000.
You can even see it in the Summer Olympics, up until 1996 or 2000, US would lose occasionally to Russia or someone else. Since 2000, US has led in total medals and gold medals every time (besides 2008 China in Gold medals because they had home field advantage even though US still had total medals).
Some may say China blah, blah, blah. They are still poor, just have 1.5 billion people. Their GDP is about $10 trillion less than the US, yet they have 5x as many people. Individually, they make as much as Mexico in per capita.

I find it hilarious that this has 0 upvotes and 3 downvotes. The older people on this site, most are like 50, just can't stand to see the US is doing better than ever lol. The data speaks.

I had this one from the 1990 Final Four in Denver. I kept it in pristine condition for about 15 years. I came home from work one day and my young toddler was playing with it. My ex-wife said he asked if he could play with it so she gave it to him. I couldn’t be mad.
