That's my issue. The guy has worked his whole life to play baseball, and he was putting up great numbers to start the year. But he makes one bad choice, and it's all over. Mo'ne Davis even said on ESPN that she thought it was really unfair for this one mistake to ruin everything he has done.

That's life. Choices and consequences. Hope he learns from it and makes better choices next time.

She's a great kid, great athlete and someone that the media embraces. This country needs role models for girls. Why not embrace it? Are you racist or sexist?

I just found a post of yours on TD where you call people "figs." Perhaps I will pressure your employer to let you go.

Obviously he will, he would have learned from a suspension and some penalty runs too. Consequence should be in line with the choice. Shoplifting and murder aren't punished the same.

Kicking him off the team seems like a typical overreaction and just lazy.

Nope. Not at all. I'm happy for the girl. I honestly worry that the media is putting too much pressure on her if anything.

Why am I watching her get interviewed right now on espn2? How is this girl still in the spotlight 9 months later? I honestly do not get it. I don't hold it against her personally but I'm about to

1. I think she has responded perfectly, even asking the college to reverse their decision.

Yup.

2. Like Tim Tebow, I don't like that the media shoves her down our throats, but I don't put that against her.

Don't get why it's still a story. It was great last summer. She didn't win and is still celebrated like she's the first female athlete ever. She is not my annoyance, but the media is.

3. I think this guy was punished way too harshly. Suspend him - sure, but kicking him off the team for something he tweeted? If baseball players aren't allowed to say douchey things, we might as well shut down the sport.

Yup. Suspended with an apology and getting rid of Twitter would be sufficient.

4. I basically agree with what he said if you replace the word "slut" with "girl" in his tweet.

Yup. A simple "why is Disney making a movie about her after getting beat?" I also think the Jackie Robinson team was the better story prior to the district/cheating coming out.

Twitter has been great...you no longer have to speculate on whether or not a player is ignorant trash, it is right there in front of you.

Movies use to show the fear we had of big brother watching ud and readi lng our thoughts and everyone afraid of tue govt controlling us.
they never had to though...we are our own big brother. We just cant wait for someone to mess up so we can go tattle and get them in trouble for having any thougjt that is different. A joke better fit jn pc or we tattle..better share our opinin..tattle

When the 1st amendment was wrote they never thought that life would be so great that all we have time to do is turn on each other...they thought as long as we keep govt. In check we will be fine. Thats why they protected us from the govt in free speech. But now that we are our own worst enemies we use the cop out of "free speech dorsnt protect you from consequence if we dont agree"

Yuck. Its lazy and baby thinking yo every person who uses that line. There is 0 free speech left in the way it was intended to be

And the worst part? The fricking dopes who side with Major corporations every time something happens. We should allowed to be stupid. Thats how ideas come. Living in fear and not talking about issues isnt gonna fix problems it makes them stay under the covers and brew

you seem like compassionate and reasonable individual.

But the coach of that death seems to think calling a child a slut isn't the behavior he wants out of his player.

I'm having a really hard time feeling sorry for this dude. If you have no social skills, it's probably best to avoid twitter.

I absolutely agree that our society has gotten so sensitive. We need to stop treating every incident like a hate crime if we want to move foward. Discussion is the answer. Now the media/public are fully embracing the mob mentality towards anyone who disagrees with them. It's a shame.

Where does calling a 13 year old girl a slut fit into "fixing problems"?

Obviously, that one situation is not the best example. But he is still right. The attitude doesn't change with the circumstance.

Welcome to the real world.

What is the appropriate punishment for a college student who calls a 13 year old girl a slut?

On another note, I find it amusing that people label this kind of shite as the pussification of America. Yeah, ok. I guess they don't see the irony in complaining about someone being a pussy for punishing someone too harshly.

Does any reasonable person agree with calling a 13 year old girl a "slut"?
