This tape isn't new evidence. He got suspended 2 games for punching her. Tape shows he punched her. It's all these liberal douches who are too dumb to comprehend something without someone telling them what to do.

Uh, ESPN is the one who brought up double jeopardy. I just reported it.

Goodell thinks so. He told USA Today the video was considered a second offense, thus the indefinite ban

Question is will Rice take it to court?

Vilma and Co took it to court and whipped Goodell, and I believe Rice would win as well. Funny how the media dropped the whole Bountygate issue right as it was coming up false.

There is this little thing called collective bargaining between players and the league. The league cannot simply do what it wants.

Except that the personal conduct policy was unilaterally put in place by Goodell outside the CBA and Gene Upshaw publicly backed it, even though it was never negotiated as part of the CBA.

It shows how much Goddell is panicking if he can't follow the rule that he made like a week ago.

No shite. It's unbelievable.

yup

Goodell said his indefinite suspension of Rice is consistent with his new domestic violence policy announced late last month, with a six-game suspension for a first offense and at least a year suspension for the second.

One incident, second offense. Has any reporter grilled him on that?

Nope. That's the baffling point.

It's the definition of Double Jeopardy...

be like if you sentence someone for murder for 25 years, then a few months later you go...oh yeah....remember that case? Yeah we found out some new shite and we're going to put you in the chair. Good luck

It's not a double jeopardy issue. It's a being a weak bitch issue. He made the fricking rule last week, stand by it. Dude crumbled at the first sign of pressure.

This. Double jeopardy is a US Constitutional issue. Goodell flip flopping is a straight PR move, and a bitch arse move, since he didn't review the evidence before he made his stupid 2 game suspension ruling.

Shefter clearly said that double jeopardy applied in NFL - can't remember where I saw it but it was before the upgraded penalty.

It might be in the CBA or NFL bylaws or whatever, but it's not double jeopardy in the normally sense.

I'm not saying NFL goes by US Law....my point was it's blatant Double Jeopardy in theory.

About as well as Vilma's suspension. I fully expect next Tuesday either the NFLPA, or Rice to seek to overturn the additional suspension.

No possible way they hadn't already seen it. They are a multi-billion dollar entity, it would have taken one call to get the video from the casino.
