If he signs the deal, he has until July 17th to make a deal. If he doesn't sign the deal he has until the 10th week of the season.
CBS- No NFL teams want to acquire Lamar Jackson

I think LJ needs to get an agent. I don't understand for the life of me why he doesn't want one. Does he not want to give up the fee?
He wouldn't wouldn't braid his own hair but he wants to be his own agent. Any player can be their own agent but doesn't mean they're going to do a good job of it.
But I don't see how you can say you want Deshawn Watson type of money yet you're not out there actually trying to get it. Watson had an agent that was out there with feelers across the league working on his behalf. His agent had those relationships with GMs and executives across the league.
LJ has effectively confined himself to one suitor, he's not being a very good agent for himself. Of course he's not going to get close to the number he's looking for.

The outrage in sports media that every team isn’t offering him part ownership of a franchise to come play for them is hillaruous.

No team wants to pay a Deshaun Watson contract to anyone.
The Browns are idiots. Just because they gave a ridiculous contract does not mean that is the market now. That was an exception to the market.
The league is pretending that the Watson contract doesn't exist.
No team wants Lamar because league wide no team is going to do that deal.
Lamar wants Watson money but that deal is so terrible the rest of the league isn't touching it and allowing that to be the new market.
Cant blame the owners here, the Browns are idiots.

Jackson's predicament was created when the Browns traded for Deshaun Watson and gave him a guaranteed $230 million deal, despite Watson facing double-digit accusations of off-field sexual misconduct. As our own Jason La Canfora reported in March 2022, the deal Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam gave Watson drew the ire of basically every other NFL owner.
CBS article is off base.
The Browns don't get to dictate the QB market because they handed out a clown contract to a player.
Owners are saying screw that, clown contracts are not the new market.

There isn't much benefit to not signing the deal besides saving one season's worth of torment on your body. If he doesn't sign the tag, he won't get paid a dime in contract money and he'll get fined for holding out. He could also really hurt his chances of getting signed by a team that is worth a shite, since most championship contenders don't want to deal with distractions of this nature.
I understand he wants more money, but look at what happened with Le'Veon Bell after he held out; he bounced around four teams over two seasons and isn't in the league anymore. Granted, Bell is a RB and Jackson is a QB, but the market won't stop moving forward just because Jackson holds out for a season. Teams will draft/sign other QBs and move on.

If you are a championship contender you aren't signing him. He doesn't care about being on a team worth a shite he wants as much money as possible and there is nothing wrong with that.

tons of teams need a Watson and no one will pay it.
NFL refuses for the QB market to be set by the Browns.

Yeah, because without fans to watch, there would be no professional sports and these guys would have to work in the real world. frick those people!

No, if he doesn't sign the tag, he isn't under contract so they can't fine him. If signs and then holds out he's under contract and would be fined.

but look at what happened with Le'Veon Bell after he held out;
Bell got $27+ MM from the Jets for just 2 years, in those two years he made more than half of his career income.
