Sad to say, but that's usually not a time for a sober accident.

Just heard this awful news. Butler played for the Spurs for one season late in his career. Hit it off very well with the Spurs' radio announcer (they're both from philly). Very personable fellow, by all accounts.

RIP. Damn, man

Was a nice guy when he played in NOLA. I remember he hit a long buzzer beater to beat the Heat one game. Was an amazing shot.

And the first responders who have to see the aftermath of it all. Don't see how they do it.

I witnessed a vehicle flip three times once (Christmas Eve on my way to mass of all times). And I was struggling to control my emotions. I just wanted to cry like I was 4 years old again. Miraculously, the guy survived. I'm sure he has back problems now, but his seat actually collapsed backwards, saving his life, because the top of the car was completely crushed.

From the Washington Post
quote:

The car struck a parking meter and hit the wall of a Marshalls department store, and an LAPD spokesman told KTLA that the vehicle was being driven “well in excess” of the posted speed limit, which drops from 35 mph to 30 mph in the area because of a sharp but gradual turn on Ventura Boulevard. The spokesman said investigators estimate the car was moving at a speed of 60 mph to 90 mph at the time of the crash.

I was being sarcastic, of course alcohol played a factor.

Sad and avoidable. But they made their choice, and now their family has to live with it.

You can see blood coming out of the frame just behind and above the front tire of the second picture

XEN lounge is right down the street. Ventura Blvd curves right where he lost control, and cars are permitted to park on the street.

I grew up 5 min from where he died. My favorite burger joint is across from that Marshall’s. Big curve in the street right there. Seems like once a year there’s a horrible single car crash on crash on Ventura with multiple casualties

Yes I'm glad no one else was involved. Still doesn't mean they should have to die.

Honestly, without kids, I would probably prefer to die in a crash if my wife did. Not sure if Sual had any kids, though.
