Random thoughts from Tulane's loss this weekend

I sat at home, ate some food from the LBC, and watched the game on HD on CST.
Thoughts:
- The offense looks the exact same as last year. Dont know what BT was talking about with the "pro-spread/saints look."
- We're not good enough to do all the personal changes.
-But we have to to protect our offensive line. They are atrocious. Aluko repeatedly got benched for Zach Morgan and we cant get any interior push for our run game. We had a difficult time setting the LOS.
- Darkwa is rendered pretty much useless if the line can't block. We played 6 different tailbacks today. I hope BT redshirt Jamar Thomas or Dante Butler or one of the backs at the end of the rotation.
-Darkwa is hurt and should not have played against SELA. He's at maybed 75-80% and we are wasting him if hes not even gonna touch the ball with the round robin crap we have at RB.
- We don't have one dependable receiver. We really miss the sure handed reliability of Casey Robottom and Cody Sparks. Our third down conversion rating was piss poor. Grant is our best receiver, and we have troubles getting him the ball. We need to get Wilson the ball and have him leave up to his measurables.
- Playing too many young guys not ready to play/guys that should be redshirted. Not sure if Shackleford, and a couple of the other young guys can contribute as much as we need them to yet.
- Griffin needs to throw a better ball. His arm strength is average/below average and it seems as if our receivers arent getting open. You can see him go through his progression to find no one open. Sometimes in the pocket it looks as if he doesnt really trust the line..i wouldnt either.
-BT plays are predictable as usual. The WR pass with Kemp was obvious from the get go just from Joe's stance.
- Defensive line looked good, but they must play the run better because our LBs are 5'10 and get washed up very easily.
- Didnt understand us playing a 5'8 170 CB at NB/Will (Shozier) . Should have played Roberston at that position. Hes more than a capable athlete with his size and speed.
- We must recruit some bigger line backers. I think the average size of our LBs has to be 6'0 215. That has to be the smallest in D-1.
- #1 needs to live up to his "potential." Kid talks a huge game and hardly backs it up..read his FB lmao. I know he can play, he just has to bring it every day.
- Shak has to step up as well. He hasnt been playing as well lately. I know the coaches and fans expect more from him than he has been giving us.
-Outside Ryan Travis, our other corners (Lauricella, Sullens, Twins, etc) scare the jesus out of me. Too inconsistent.
- Ginsburg did okay. Still kicking knuckle balls.
-hope those missed FGs dont mess with Cairos confidence.
- No one at the game as usual. Damn yankees were probably eating crepes on magazine or playing lax with their other bros at the fly. damn hippies.
Go wave!

So you're at home watching it and bitching about people not being there?

Watching the game still makes him a much better fan than probably 90% of the student body
eta: I've never watched an entire Tulane football game

Tulane opens as a double digit dog to UAB - who (like owlie) has yet to score in 2011 ....
WOW

I ended up betting on the game (took Tulsa and gave the points) Its a shame how far the program has fallen in the past 5-8 years. Even before Katrina they were trending down, needing to bring in transfer talent (like Losman). Hopefully next season they can get a fresh young coach. There is plenty of talent in the region that won't go to LSU/Bama/Auburn and could make the team competitive in the CUSA.
Random thought: Watched UVa-IU this weekend. Michael Strauss is going to be burried behind Rocco for a while. He shoulda stayed with him Tulane commit. He'd be battling Griffin, easily.

Good choice, I went to the game and regret it.

From what I heard the offense was completely different against SELA.
quote:Yeah, the O-line is fricking terrible. Everyone says how much the talent level has improved with Toledo, but I dont see it. Our WR's suck, O-line sucks, QB's are average at best, etc. We have a lot of RB's that can play and that's about it.
But we have to to protect our offensive line. They are atrocious. Aluko repeatedly got benched for Zach Morgan and we cant get any interior push for our run game. We had a difficult time setting the LOS.
I was impressed with the defense in the first half. That was about the only positive. Well besides the fact that we only have a few months left of Bob Toledo.

you just wrote more about Tulane in the span of a few minutes than anyone else will write all year. I didn't realize they still had a team.

Strauss is our #4 QB right behind Rocco, Watford, and Metheney in that order. Strauss seems really involved with the team though (has headset, relays plays, has smiles on the sidelines), but I wouldn't be suprised or angry if he ended up transferring

Even Metheny beat him out? Yikes. I like Watford, he'll be a Hagans-like QB for ya'll nice change of pace from Rocco once London gets him up to speed.

i wasn't saying it to be a smart arse...i just thought i heard they were going to cut some programs and didn't know if they had and cut football or if it was just a rumor.
