I remember watching Van de Velde live. Sometimes I go back and rewatch it. Peter Alliss' call of these 15 minutes is legendary.
You might have seen this but he went back and played 18 using only a putter.

Saints-49ers 2012 playoffs. Alex Smith to Vernon Davis right after the insane long Graham TD. That was the best Saints team ever & would have been a huge favorite over NYG in the Superdome in the NFC Championship game & would have had a legit shot to beat the Pats.

Though I’m not convinced LSU would’ve scored with possession.

The fact that LSU didn’t go for it with Cecil Collins and Rondell Mealey (and even Herb Tyler behind the center) in the backfield against Auburn on 4th and 2 on Sep 20, 1997.

I still randomly think about and laugh aloud to the memory of Verne Lundquist calling a Les Miles LSU football game.
The line that sticks was "What are they doing?!?" moment. It was at the end of the Tennessee game when LSU was mismanaging the clock and letting their chance to win evaporate.
Granted, Dooley was even more disorganized and their 13 men on the field allowed LSU to win the game. But the line (and maybe the outcome) so perfectly sums up the era that it is unforgettable.
