Sources: Texas QB Quinn Ewers has a grade 2 AC joint sprain in his right (throwing) shoulder and is expected to miss some time, an MRI revealed on Sunday. The injury is not season ending, as @anwarrichardson reported earlier. A more finite timetable should emerge this week.

The most overrated recruit in the history of the recruiting services isn’t even #2 on the depth chart, so not likely.

Sark is supposed to be a QB coach and this is year 3. If we don't have a capable backup, it's on him. Maalik Murphy better be ready.

The plan was always for him to redshirt this year. I, too, think his last name added an extra star to his rating, but your post makes no sense.

why is he redshirting? Hard to imagine that extra year will ever come into play.

This is 2023, not 1993. Freshmen that can make a difference dont plan to redshirt.

Tell his family. I believe they pushed very hard for him to be redshirted vs. thrown to the wolves as a true freshman.

Arch was always redshirting. Malik Murphy was the most approached backup this off-season. Bama and Ohio St both wanted him and he decided to stay. He would have won the job at Bama.

Phil Steele said before the season Texas had the deepest QB room so that doesn’t mean they all suck behind Ewers.

Everything the insiders have said is Arch has looked solid and progressing well. He and Murphy are very close. Arch looked great in both fall scrimmages.

He was never going to play this year anyway.

Nah. If Arch was the future, he would’ve seen the field on Saturday.

right. that part is fine. He should be sitting behind and watching this year. The question is more on the technicality of a resdhirt.

Yet Sark told Tim Brando prior to yesterday they expected him to play in that game. Strange. Doesn't burn his redshirt obviously but why say that if the plan all along is to redshirt? Wouldn't giving those reps to Murphy be more beneficial, case in point this news? The logic in the explanations just doesn't add up.
