IMO, the guy did a damn good job this season. They totally changed their franchise identity on the fly this season with the Trae Young trade. He got them to 46-36 in what was a 'blow-it-up' rebuild moment according to some people.

I guess the two playoff wins by a combined TWO points over the soon-to-be NBA champion Knicks warranted it. Good on him. He had Missouri playing great basketball in the early 2000s.

They have a great foundation and a ton a flexibility going forward thanks to Joe Dumbass and the Pelicans.

They are one player away from being real contenders.

I'd say two players away. They have needed a rim protector/rebounder to prevent guys like Mitchell Robinson and KAT from killing them on the boards for a while.
They are not a bad 3-point shooting club, but not great, either. They could use another shooter on the perimeter.

Quin is a great coach but yeah Hawks are not one player away from being a contender. Jalen Johnson is a great building block but it’s a bunch of above average players surrounding him and no true elite players to put them over the top. So glad they took Risacher over Sarr though

I think they are doing a decent job of building a team identity of having a bunch of guys who can play defense and create offense on steals/turnovers.
But that doesn't work as well in the playoffs when you are going up against other good or elite teams.
They are not in a bad position with their roster and draft picks, but they have some work to do.

Agreed. It honestly reminds me of those regular season powerhouses they had about 10-15 years back.

Missouri fan here. Big Q fan. I was in school at the time he was there. He did not have MU playing great basketball while he was there. He had a very good run to the elite 8 with a team that drastically underachieved all season long. That was the highlight as far as postseason goes.
It was clear he would be a good coach but he was just too green while at Mizzou and of course his alcohol, drug and marriage problems were probably significant issues. He just couldn't handle it all that young but most of Missouri really likes the guy and would love to give him a 2nd chance if he wanted it.

Trae Young trade
Great move for them because Trae Young sucks and his numbers are a mirage
