Please they do not want to run through that gauntlet. Curtis would have a fit if they put em in that district.

since 2008, the entirety of next season's Catholic League has either A. won state (Rummel) B. lost in the Dome (Rummel, Shaw) C. been to the semifinals (Holy Cross, Rummel, Shaw) D. been to the quarterfinals (St. Augustine, Jesuit, Rummel, Holy Cross, Shaw) E. been 9-0 or 10-0 (Rummel, Jesuit, Brother Martin)
it's like Boise State... they can beat an SEC team, but you really think they'll not be beat up in a season in that conference?
and then Curtis will get to the playoffs in a division they've never played if they're in 5A and we don't split.
the 33 seed isn't a cakewalk, ask St. Paul's. they should beat 32 but try to avoid 33 however they can.
meanwhile if they split, the first round of the select playoffs will be one of the worst teams in the state (Clark, Ben Franklin, Miller McCoy) assuming 32 get in.
the only round i'd say the select school playoffs would be harder than 5A is the final where you'd probably see Curtis or Evangel. 5A is harder in the first round and the next three are even

owl.. in 25 years the catholic league has ONE state title... please don't compare them to the sec.
Posted on 3/20/13 at 1:18 pm to choupiquesushi
that was the past... this is the future
the Catholic League is in a renaissance now whether they win state titles or not. now that we know Rummel can win one, we're pretty sure St. Aug can win too.
i do feel sorry for Shaw and BM right now, but they'll be back

During my tenure, we lost 4 times(3 of those by 1 point) to the eventual state champ
So it's not like the Catholic League haven't been close in FB over the past 2 decades
At least Rum was able to break the damn drought

How many state titles have they won this year already? Jesuit, Brother Martin, Rummel, Dominican, and Mt. Carmel have all won one.

I dunno. This Article makes it sound like it's just the "details" the committee is going to hash out. Could be writer's spin though I guess. It would be interesting to see what would happen ifthey put a constitutional amendment up to a vote at the general meeting. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere a const. Amendment just needs a majority. Wonder if they could still get it?

tiger in the no... that may be an option soon...
owl.... we'll see.... people said the same thing in 87... when the Catholic league had only been 9 years without a title.
