The San Diego District Attorney announced today that former #Bills punter Matt Araiza will not be criminally charged in the alleged sexual assault case from October 2021.

Prosecutors determined that the evidence does not support the filing of criminal charges. Release is below:

Of course this came out right after he was one of the highest drafted punters in awhile, then he gets cut and his life basically ruined...and all charges dropped.

Got the Shawn Oakman treatment. Ruin his career and the facts will come out later. The damage has already been done.

This kind of thing is why Watson has his defenders

Does he have a case to sue for defamation?

gang-raping a then-17-year-old girl

Just because there’s not enough evidence doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

What’s your stance? There’s some NFL conspiracy against punters being drafted, so they falsely accuse him of participating in a gang rape of a passed out 17 year old girl?

Will anyone sign him? Believe he was not subject to NFL policy because it went down before he was in league.
Probably not because teams don’t want the headache it’ll cause (“outrage”) since he is only a punter

Possibly. However, she alleges in her civil lawsuit against Araiza that she had was bloodied/injured as a result of the alleged rape. Including having multiple body piercings ripped out. If true, the it appears SOMETHING happened to cause those injuries. So for the DA to bring no charges against neither Araiza, nor the other players alleged to have participate in the rape, there must some compelling evidence suggesting the alleged crime may not have occurred. Investigators and DAs don't take allegations of rape with a physically injured victim lightly and often time err on the side of the victim if there is doubt as to what happened. I know the state has to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, but for them to apparently decide to bring no charges against anyone certainly raises some eyebrows against the alleged victim.

Or the guy from Baylor that actually spent years in prison until the girl recanted her story

In fantasy, our regular season league champ from last year got to name the regular season losers team this year. The losing team drafted koo as his kicker so his team got named “Matt Araiza likes Younghoes”

The important thing is that the victim started a conversation.

This logic assumes the DA always pursues cases solely due to their belief in whether they believe it happened or not.

While we all wish it were, I think everyone could agree, that is not the case in real life, and it goes both ways in terms of sometimes it could be in benefit to the accuser or in benefit to the accused. There are always other forces at play here

You have a lot more trust and faith in DA’s offices than I do. Unless it’s a slam dunk case or a plea agreement, they’ve spent the last few years passing on cases all over the country. San Diego County is no exception.

This is what corrupt prosecutors say to the media after it turns out some poor guy just did 30 years for a crime he didn't commit.
